It provides poe, so still need a switch. Only useful if you have a normal switch without poe.

So you need this plus the tenda. Doubt Tenda has POE?

If it does rather buy a switch with poe, less clutter.

The Tenda is a 4 port POE switch for R525 on Takealot. Think Scoop is a bit cheaper.

Ordered on Saturday, Reolink emailed on Monday saying it has been shipped, DHL let me know on Tuesday it is booked. Got the customs documents from DHL today, R310 tax and R150 handling fee. Delivery should be Tuesday next week.

Pretty impressed with the speed of delivery.

Very similar timelines and cost to me ... definitely great service from them
 
One of my RLC-410's died. Doesn't really make sense to buy just one at a time.
If someone had a spare that they want to flog, let me know.

I discovered my cheapie camera's are only 15fps at 5MP - have to drop to 1080p to get 25fps - interestingly, I don't see much quality difference between 5MP and 1080p when zooming in.

Out of interest, how does this compare to the Reolink: (this is a 1080p snapshot in VLC)

Im impressed with the turnaround time for this shipment, did the order last week Thursday, ETA is this week Thursday.
Got my DHL confirmation and paid import vat this morning.

7 days is not bad at all.

Mine were delivered a couple of hours ago - really really good service - neatly packed - will fire them up in a bit once this pesky work is done and test
 
So I'm going to hold on until Black Friday to see if they have even better deals. Checked again and would like to go for 6 cameras right from the start instead of the 4 planned initially.

Looking forward to hear your experience @powermzii
 
Unwrapped 1 and manged to connect it to the POE and to the network - really easy to setup when using the Reolink app - it found the camera with no issues and allowed me to setup recording, motion detection etc.

Tried to do a quick and dirty Blue Iris config but messed something up so will redo that later when i have time - no signal was coming from the camera - but like i said it was rushed. The pack comes with a short 1m ethernet cable so you will need to get your own longer runs.

I would be surprised if they are less than the $40 each I paid last week. I have another 4 incoming (total of 12 then); if the price is good then get as many as you will need. Even if you end up keeping 1 as a spare for possible future failure.

I never bothered setting them up with the app. Just went to the webpage (they DHCP by default), set them up and used the Reolink Profiles in Blue Iris. No need to use General Onvif as BI supports them straight out the box. You really can't feck it up.

Getting substreams to work is a little more challenging, but I can post those settings for anyone that needs it

It would be awesome if you can do a small guide or something for beginners like me. Im planning to do exactly the same as what you are doing now. I should be ready (if I can get a PC) by Saturday.

Whats the specs of the PC you running blue iris on?

Haha will see what I can do

It's an old repurposed i7 4790 (4 core 8 threads) with 12GB Ram, 120GB boot SSD and a 500GB HDD running Windows 10

Will do a more in depth write up but I managed to get the lone camera running with no issues using the Reolink profile - am still on the Demo / evaluation that only allows you 1 camera.

Setup motion detection and that works 100s - haven't changed the sensitivity. Am exporting a 20min recording now and the PC seems to have held up OK. Seeing some incongruence though, BI is sometimes reporting 15-30% CPU usage but Windows task manager is not going over 7%... Will see what this is about but overall for a day 1 initial setup it was pretty seamless
