Zest Bikes side of the story
WOW I cant believe the lies that Wayne is saying about my company.
Let me explain my side of the story and then all the forum members can make up there own opinion, all I will start by saying is Wayne has made me loose even more faith in mankind!
Wayne brought his bike to us just over 1 year ago for his first service with us, we did the service and he was on his way, over a year later he brought his bike to us for his next service (let me say to anyone that owns a bike out there and uses it on a daily basis like Wayne does driving +-40km a day to work that a bike should be serviced more than once a year but this helps me explain to you why he waited for a year) So +- 1 week before the recent service he brought his bike to our shop speaking to our sales guy Eugene about lack of power on his bike, in the mornings it takes him +-10mins to start the bike and he thinks there is no compression, Eugene said to him when last did you service the bike (over a year ago) so Eugene said well bring it in for a service and we can also look at what the problem is (guessing is no good as this thread indicates) however Eugene gave Wayne a FREE spark plug and said try this at home and see if it makes a difference (you would think that was good customer service but apparantly not), So Wayne books his service in 1 week later, he also asks us to do change the front and rear brake pads AND PUT A NEW GASKET ON THE HEAD AS PETROL/OIL IS LEAKING FROM IT (FUNNY HE DOES NOT MENTION THIS IN THE THREAD, ALTHOUGH I HAVE THIS WRITTEN ON MY SERVICE BOOK IN SHEET), we do all this and find that the thread where the spark plug goes in is messed up so we have to wait for the thread guys to come before we can put the new spark plug in and test the bike, Wayne arrives and I explain all this to him he waits here we even chat!! once the thread guy is gone we put the spark plug in and try to start the bike (it is now 4.30pm) the bike does not want to start (like the same problem he had before which he mentioned to Eugene, me and my mechanic a week prior to the service and on the day) so the mechanic says to him it could be that the guy who drilled the thread hit a valve or it could be another problem but the only way to tell is to have a look at the valves but since it was 4.30pm i said I would lend him a courtesy bike (no charge) and phone him in the morning once we know what the problem is, oh yes we also phoned the thread guy that afternoon and he said no he does not go near the valve, so Wayne took the scooter and was off.
The following morning my mechanic took the head off and showed me the valves that they where all ok and showed me all the gunk stuck around the head and valves and showed me that when he poured petrol on it it leaked from all the valves and that the problem was +-8 years of build up of gunk and it needs to be cleaned in order for Wayne to stop experiancing his starting problems and loss of power, I then phoned wayne in the morning (have phone records) and explained to him it was not the thread guy as the valves where fine but the build up of gunk, I then asked him must a go ahead and clean them he asked how long it would take i said not sure 3-4 hours if lucky or more, he said go ahead with it. I then phoned him back around 4pm and said they where almost finished and it has taken 7 hours and will cost about R1400 but I understand that he has not atisipated this so I will allow him to pay it off over 3 months (even though this fault was not mine) he complained that it was only brought in for a service and it must be free? this I could not understand because he new it had problems starting before, new it was leaking oil from the head and what did he think that a service covers fixing other problems to? (even though i phoned him and kept him up to date the whole time) any ways he then said ok i said it would be 3 hours so he will pay R600 I did not want to have the phone call go on for ever and could see he was upset so I just ok R600 I will drop his bike off at his work and pick up the scooter,He said can I not drop the bike at his house and his wife would give me the R600, I needed the scooter back so said to him (my biggest mistake taking someones word) I will gladly deliver your bike to your work before 5pm and pickup the scooter you can then come give me the R600 in the week, he agreed and I thought the subject was resolved (was I wrong)
In the morning I get a phone message from an attorneys office so I return the call, an extremly rude person says to me her client is not paying me for the job, when i tried to explain my side she said she is not interrested and hung up the phone (still taking that up with her company) i phoned back to speak to the owner only for the same lady to answer the phone saying he is very busy and will only get back to me in a few days (still waiting) she then said she was Waynes daughter ( no wonder i thought how can a lawyer be so rude and not listen to the full story) when i try to mention to her that Wayne agreed to pay R600 the day before she said i was lying (PLEASE WAYNE WHO IS LYING?) any ways i get a attorneys letter a day later from there office saying Wayne is not paying me, WELL now i am have done everything properly my side and was promised by Wayne to pay but now this is becoming a matter of principal as I do not like being lied to specially after helping out (spark plug,Loan bike, payment plan etc)
So I have gotten my attorneys now involved and he has 14 days to settle the invoice.
Proof I have Eugene (sales guy)who spoke 1 week prior to the service to Wayne when wayne brought the bike to us complaining of not starting and no compression)
Mechanic who did the job and otheres who saw the gunk)
Telephone records calls
and a receipt for a VALVE CLEANER just after the phone records of me calling Wayne to ask if we should go ahead with the job.
Also the book in sheet where it states cleary gasket on head as leaking
I would love the forum members feed back and any questions you have you are welcome to email me
[email protected] or i will check this forum.
Also the bikes tappets where set when the bike was cleaned out (bike will go perfectly for a few days which it did was delivered etc), although a few days later he must bring it in for 1 more adjustment although before i could talk to him he stated with the lawyers etc
I did mention to him to get another mechanic of his choice to look at what we repaired and see if we where telling the truth (he however did not opt for this although he still should i think)
Please give me your views as I can not understand why Wayne blatantly lies and hides the truth.
I have never been to court but as a matter of principal I will defiantly be seeing Wayne in Court!
Thanks for taking the time to read both sides of the story.
