Sony Ericsson P990i

wondering what the "line 2" is used for or how can I utilize this "line 2" functionality?? I would love if I can have 2 numbers on 1 sim card which I what I guess this is supposed to be for??

The line1 was for voice & line2 for data.

It has been removed from the new 64k '3G' simcards - I don't have line1 & 2 on my phone, but if I put my 'old' simcard in, it's available.

Sheesh - gone of the days of this being an active thread!

Anyone know a decent way of me selling my P990i and getting a good price?

New firmware

Hey guys. New firmware is rumoured to come out sometime in April. Not too long. I think the m600 works a lot better than the p990 so u guys with p990's, hang in there. My m600 has roughly 12mb free ram with messaging and contacts running. This is after all the memory leaking has occured. With this 12mb i can do a fair bit of multitasking eg listen to music and browse web or use opera mini and mxit at the same time. Hang in there guys. New firmware should be a big step.

This sounds VERY promising indeed!! :)

From www.my-symbian.com thread...
I spoke with Sony Ericsson executive.
They are really working of bugs right now and they try their best to do the phone at "least" stable and be able to use it without any third party software, (like swiss manager). They are aware of most of the bugs, including the one that you are not able to receive calls while on GPRS connection.

They only told me that a new Java applet will be included and that Symbian 9.1 giving them a lot of problems especially in memory management...

me too, but jeez, why should we as paid owners experience all these growing pains?

Although I am anti-MS mobiles, I'm getting good reviews from the new generation HTC devices, and the few guys at work who have them can't stop raving about them. And they don't seem deliberately biased.

Very true my mates are totallly happy with their Tytyns! i even reckon they cant sms easily as us but still not detered.

Im happy with my P990i except for bugs and i finds its a bit slow! opening up and sms seems almost 2 sec which frustrates me!

I guess you P990i owners can't wait for the Nokia N95 to arrive so you can get rid of your P990 and get your hands on the Nokia N95. :D ;)

The Nokio n95 will be forgotten in a few months. All that will survive as true smartphones, will be the P990i & iPhone. The lack of a touchscreen & full keyboard means that the n95 is actually a 'mainstream' phone.

The P990i is basically a Core2Duo machine with a Windows 3.1 OS. Once they sort out the software bugs, it will be a fantastic phone.

You kidding no touch screen and full keyb eish thats not a smart phone!

Nope im sony ericsson fan, nokia is just to dull for my liking:)
Htc is also a fav:)

Full keyboard is always a nice function on a phone. Touch screen is no big issue. I had phones with touch screens. I'm back to Nokia after a long time. Tried other phones because I thought maybe it will be better but I'll never make that mistake again.

Nokia is the way to go. My N80 is a excellent phone. I like every feature of my N80. I can only imagine what my N95 is going to be like.;) :D And the Nokia 8800 I will be getting soon. I know the 8800 doesn't have neat features but it's definately the most stylish phone out there today.

Pie-nokio, go back to your n95 thread - you've been in every thread about the n95 vs P990i, etc - and it only tells me one thing.

You're not sure if the n95 is the right phone to buy.

And after Nokio pulled that stunt by changing the front cover of their phones and market it as a new model, I realised it was time to say goodbye. :)

Howzit Amith:)

I think i might change your mind when i get the N95:D

   you lie! is there proof??

which models? My dad has the n70 and it makes me wana throw up serious even updated to lateset firmware still crap as hell!

Piesang dude you seem to love nokia cool but this is the 990 thread :) by the way my sis has the N80 its nice but too clustered keys for my liking. web pages are puny!

It happened in 2002. Nokio took a 6XXX series phone (can't remember the exact model nr anymore & too lazy to search Goolgle), slapped a new 'facecover' on it and marketed it as a new phone. It was also a piss-poor job they did, because the new 'face cover' did not allign properly with the keypad of the old phone. Thus people would scroll down, but wouldn't be able to scroll up again - cos the cover and keypad were not alligned properly.

That was the last time I bought a Nokio (had the 8310). I bought a SE P800 and never looked back. :)

Using Laptop speakers to listen to radio over bluetooth

I don't know if its possible to transfer radio sound to laptop speakers over bluetooth or the usb cable. I've got a HP Compaq nx7400 with built in bluetooth and can't get it my P990 to recognise it as an audio device that it can use. Any ideas?
