It's quite well understood that the BoomSound speakers from the HTC are the best in the Business. Like you say the Sony's are still quite good though.

Was at Vodaworld earlier today looking at this phone.

Definitely the best designed phone of the Z series. So sleek and slippery though. Might have to get a case.

The Z3 Compact also looks sexy. The bezels are almost not even though compared to the Z3.
 
Hey guys. A family member of mine is considering an upgrade from the Z1 to the Z3, however the iPhone 6 is also tempting him.

He has heard from someone that apparently there is some or other rather serious glitch with the Z3 (not sure what), and has been advising strongly against the Z3. (He is an iPhone user... You never know with those sneaky appleonians lol)

Are any of you aware of any serious problems with the Z3, perhaps experiencing any issues? Or is this just a bunch of hogwash. I think the Z3 is a pretty awesome choice of phone, and a lot cheaper than the iPhone 6, so it would be worth setting his mind at ease over the Z3.

Z3 is definitely an awesome phone. Sounds like iphone bull****.

Sounds like BS. No details just some random "serious glitch". Oh please. :mad:

I used iPhones for 4 years. Wouldn't & couldn't go back.

Maybe tye apple guy is talking about the i6+ backpocket glitch lol. Ive looked the Z3 over and I cannot wait to get my hands on one to play around.

Still have a year to upgrade time.

By that time Z4 will be out. I should hopefully be picking up my Z3 tomorrow. :D
 
Sony Xperia Z3 Red Underline Spell Checker

I love my Z3 but the one thing that was missing was the red underline spell checker. I hate the suggestion feature. I had the red underline on my Note 2 (stock and Cyanogenmod) as well a my Nexus 7 (stock).

Apparently that feature is available in the Google Keyboard. But you can't install the Google Keyboard as it claims it's not available in this country :wtf:.

To get it back I did the following (after several Google searches).

This will only work if you have another device with Google Keyboard already installed like a Nexus 7, already assigned to your Google account. Alternatively, you could just get the .apk, seems it's all over the net (though I don't like this approach).

On my Nexus 7 update the Google Keyboard app via the Play Store. The reason for this is on my Z3 the Google Keyboard app can't be installed, the Play Store claims it is not available for my country :wtf:. By updating it on my Nexus 7, where it was already installed as part of the OS, it became available on my other devices' Play Stores under My apps/All. On the Z3 don't tap the app in My apps/All or else it shows the details where it says it's not available. Do a long press of the app in My apps/All and select install. After installing go to Settings/Language & input and make the Google Keyboard the default. Also enable the Spell checker. I personally disable the suggestions. At this point the red line spell checker still doesn't work. You need to restart your device.

Yay!

Also, to fit the Z3 style, in Google Keyboard Settings/Appearance & layouts/Theme select Material Light. (Holo White is black for some reason.)

Edit: there is no SA English in the Google Keyboard and I was set to SA English. This may be why it wasn't available in the store. UK English is available, so by setting that as your language may (or not) make it available

Got my Z3 today.

Loving the audio and display quality. Miles ahead of the Galaxy S4 I was using before.

Now to go case hunting tomorrow.

would you guys recommend a rubber case from Body Glove or something similar? my S4 fell on Sunday and it had one of those samsung original flip covers. the cover opened in mid air, phone fell flat on its screen and is all F'ed up now. it does come on but the screen is cracked + dead.... i will be getting my Z3 31st January...

my idea is to get the Z3 with a rubbrer case of some sort, covering the edges at least. any recommendations?
 
I hope all you Z3 owners picked up your 3 free movies from Xperia Lounge.

Why dont you get the S4 screen repaired or buy a cheapie vodafone or steppa.I think it is worth waiting for 2015 handsets htc m9,Z4(sony is talking abt a change in design),S6(metal body) and lg g4.

So what white balance settings do you guys use?

It seems to be quite accepted that the display is set to very cool.

Currently I have:
R: 42
G: 41
B: 0

Looks more natural to me than the default.
