nonroker, dorris - my speeds are also way down. Sentech is definately shaping/limiting all traffic at 6KB/s - to me this is sorta in contravention of the contract. I have done several tests ftp,http,p2p using all types of programs - all with the result of 6KB/s. What are tese guys up to? They are definately refining the art of upsetting valuable customers!!! [:(!]

R849 p/m for 6KB/s - you can get that for R79 a month.

Well my speed has more than doubled from yesterday to today. Yesterday it was 1KB/s. Today it is 2.3KB/s. On tower 66 from 4ways on 128MW. My elderly mother has a Mweb dialup running an old 33.3 modem. She gets about 3kB/s. So if I want to do some real serious stuff on the net I have to amble over to her connection. Sheesh.

My pings seem a LOT faster with no packet loss locally...
This is only local though :-\

So the problem is most definitely with Sentech :p (but we all knew that already)

The problem is not with the pings people are getting - mine is great too. They just took all the bandwidth away from 256k users. It seems to me it doesn't matter what package you have we all have the same crappy speeds - its just that the 128k guys are paying much less...

Jaco i agree very much with you.. finally no packet loss (maybe can play games now??)

Ping statistics for 66.18.65.115:
Packets: Sent = 50, Received = 50, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 91ms, Maximum = 399ms, Average = 132ms

Ping statistics for 81.27.33.7:
Packets: Sent = 50, Received = 50, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 471ms, Maximum = 746ms, Average = 516ms

And indeed i cant get more than MAYBE 7kB/s d/l on my 256k package(equivalent of 56k?? no wait, i think i heard someone in the background yell 28.8k)

yep...and I can confirm that with an iperf test:

[ 5] 0.0-16.1 sec 96.0 KBytes 48.7 Kbits/sec

And the result is EXACTLY the same every single test.

Even uploading is ***

[ 5] 0.0-18.7 sec 152 KBytes 66.7 Kbits/sec

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr [:(]

K..this is fsckin SAD.

I've started multiple torrents and downloads to see if I can max out the 256K.

Guess what?

It's stuck solidly on 60K (Less than 64K ISDN!!!!!)

Yip, same here - pings have dropped dramatically, but downloads speeds are crummy still (60kbps).

Ping statistics for 66.18.65.115:
Packets: Sent = 54, Received = 54, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 66ms, Maximum = 287ms, Average = 137ms

If this continues till the end of Aug I am going to cancel and sit out untill they get this right again. It was acceptable before this 16th-25th Aug 'fair distribution of bandwidth' crap maintenance started. I had constant +20KB/s dl's on any type of traffic.
I am willing to pay for 18-22KB/s service but not for a limited 6KB/s service.

I seriously doubt it. Unless you have some inside info about them buying bandwidth or losing 500 customers I wont really think things are actually gonna get better. There is just nothing substantial to give us hope judging from past experience.

I just like to know why they suddenly cut our bandwidth and then hold us on the line until the end of Aug when 'things might be much better'?
I tend to agree with greedy - get some magic bandwidth or losing some customers.

BTW what is TheRodent up to these days? Is he part of the solution?[;)]
