Huh? Florida road has no walls. Nor does Melville from what I have seen.
We used to walk around and spend a lot of time in our youth at Westgate shopping centre when we lived up there. The youth of today are doing the same thing at Gateway and others. So where are the changes? Unless you are 40+ and are talking about a different time than I am.

Melville can be pretty dangerous, someone that I know was mugged and stabbed there recently. And I know of other incidents there.

Ahh, there we go... the good old person who knows someone who once had something happen. I have a friend who was mugged twice in the UK. Damn, the spirally crime in the UK. You can't even walk through the streets at night! I bet someone knows of someone who was stabbed in the "good old days" in Hillbrow too if we ask around.
And how about we stop always shifting the goal posts. Tourists in danger in SA during the SWC. Stats given showing there is not that much danger. Then we can't walk through the streets at night. We give examples. Then it changes to arguing about something happening in those places once therefore making them invalid examples. No one said name a place where no incident of crime every happened. They asked where you could walk around freely today. We named places we walk around freely!

BTW, it was my son who was stabbed in Melville, and when I went to fetch him as was pretty much in fear of my life as well.
Not sure that I would roam around there without an AK-47 and a team of Rotweillers. Oh, and a bulletproof vest.

“Feel free to stay in South Africa, our crimes level is the same as UK and US”.

BTW, the kid was stabbed because his GF was just a little too slow in handing over the handbag.
Also, I can't see what all this DOES NOT HAVE TO WITH THE WC !
Where do you think that the tourists are going to jol, a few will certainly end up in Melville, etc.
Oh, and the last 10 or so crimes against me have not been reported, what for, there is no point - the police certainly have no interest !
The same applies to others, so don't go and shout your head off about lower crime stats - it's all BS, partly because crime does not get reported any more - why would anyone bother ?

But you said South Africa is not that dangerous, so it is safe, right?
Basically a safe place does not have crime. (Crimes only happen occasionally. It is not a norm.)

South Africa itself could not have crime, right? Crimes are people involved. So tourists came to South Africa if we assumed no people involved, they are safe. So South Africa (the land) cannot have crimes.
People said UK is safe but South Africa is dangerous. You argue with us: SA is safe.
Your point is: UK had crime, South Africa had crime. you made UK crime = SA crime, then implied South Africa is safe. A safe place does not have so many crimes we have to worry about.
So South Africa basically does not have crimes. It is because the crimes level is normal as any other countries.)
