Back in the day I had this little software app that would allow me to select an exe and then select what fake system specs I want to feed this exe when I run it. I cannot for the life of me get google to assist me in finding this app. From what I recall one could set a few things like RAM/OS/Free Space/DirectX Version. It allowed one to eg. run software that would refuse to run for some arb reason. It helped me a few times and now I am of course urgently in need of said app again!

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Tell us why you need it... then 'we' may help you... what are you up to!

The medical aid industry is moving over to biometric verification of their patients. Some random company is coming to install a finger print reader ... I must be too stupid to install something like that. Maar dit daar gelaat. They have minimum requirements stating 1GB RAM and asked us to run a small app to confirm that we comply with these minimum specs. My XP now reports to this app that I have 0.99GB RAM because the video card takes 2MB odd for itself. Based on that alone the PC we will be using does not pass their minimum requirements.

Yes, there are a million and one other ways to bypass this problem, but I was hoping to do it this way.

I remember using something like this way back. Will do some digging to see if I can find it again.

Desktop or laptop?

Surely you can ask them to give you some slack as it is only 100MB off?

Curiosity got the better of me, I Googled microsoft system specs spoofer and discovered that some miscreant has sullied the good name of Linux by prefixing it with MS, must be the Nigerians.

That's where I stopped looking through the search results as they were already unreliable and should not be trusted.

I can sell you an official copy of Microsoft Linux for the low low price of $250 including shipping

:D

I would also find an app like that useful. Can it spoof the CPU vendor? I need an app that can allow an AMD PC to run an Intel only game.

I did read about such an app being available from M$, but from what I gathered it was not the app I went out looking for. But I will delve into that when I have exhausted my options. I also saw some mention of an installer editor that allowed you to bypass the msi installer requirements etc etc. But once again, not within my scope.

I'd also like to point out that you've got a serious error in your calcs somewhere. 1 gig RAM is 1024 mb...minus 2mb vid ram...is not 0.99 gigs. Something there is way way off and I'm reasonably sure its that exe you've been provided with. Either that or some of the info you're providing isn't quite clear.

Nothing wrong with my calculations. I was not specific with the amount of RAM being occupied by the gfx card. Even 1mb reserved for other purposes leaves 1023 of 1024 = 0.99 if only 2 decimals are recorded. :p

With that you assume that the intel game only checks the cpu vendor in some way and not some specific intel only functionality...

lol...you're kidding me right? yes...0.998 rounds to 0.99 if "only 2 decimals are recorded". Whatever dude.

Anyway...good luck with fudging your tender submission.

Not kidding you at all. Just telling you what I'm seeing here. Also not fudging any tender submission.

Yes, it literally only checks the CPU vendor. It's from a time when AMD CPU's were considered inferior to Intel... much like the present. :D

Really? And what game is this?

This one. One of my favourite games of the 90's. :)
