Tableview/Parklands issues?

They still haven't upgraded the dslam I'm connecting to, still only getting 4Mbps on GDMT. I should make some friends with the Telkom techies, get them to move me to a 10Mpbs port :)
All 4 meg will be transferred to IMAX DSAM where possible, very soon it is part of the upgrade of the 384 and 1 meg lines to alleviate congestion on the GDMT DSLAMs .

Meaning what in terms of sync speeds available?

Is my thinking correct in that I might have been moved from a 10Mbit capable port to a 4Mbit one overnight?

No reason for them to do that ( unless the IMAX is full and they had a fault on the last port so you had to go to Gdmt DSLAM) ,the policy is to move all 4 meg and above to IMAX DSLAMs.
Have a look if your router says Gdmt or ADSL2 if ADSL2 then it is IMAX DSLAM.

My router (Netgear with DGTeam) won't be much help there as it allows you to set the modulation used. It syncs on either Gdmt or ADSL2+.

Well I don't know what they're up to 'cos the thing was a stolid 10Mbit sync last night.

I think I'll try them later in the week or wait for the next line fault (which is inevitable :D)

So they called me again about 30 minutes ago. Told the technician what's happening and asked nicely to be switched back to the original setup. Now back up to 8Mbit. Not as good as before, sadly, and have just a 10dB SNR. Previously had 10Mbit sync with a 12-14dB SNR.

This time round I had to set to Gdmt modulation to get it to sync. So, yeah, FNfal it looks like they are indeed busy with those IMAX DSLAM things. Kinda crap that they don't give you more than 4Mbit on it though.

What does IMAX stand for
