Telkom 20Mbps ADSL2+ service

If you want high speed in Cape Town you need to go to Durbanville. There they (Telkom) upgrades everything every few months.

My neighbourhood has been stuck on 4Mbps for (atleast) 5 years now and there's no sight of the exchange being upgraded to a MSAN unit

Been on 20 mb down and 1 mb up for 2 weeks now and love it......

*sigh*
Telkom, how about you rather first get working on providing 2-4 meg consistent service for the whole country? And at a flat rate that is cheap and free for schools, libraries etc. Then you will have things like communication (voice calls/skype type services) and education sorted. After that is peachy, you can start to work on 50 bajillion meg speeds, ok?

I would love for Telkom to Enable ADSL2+ Annex M so we can get high upload speeds.... 1 meg up is no longer cutting it....

I'll be damned, last time I checked(8 months or so ago I think) the highest my exchange could support was 4Mbps.:)

Then Broadband stats confirms

Not complaining though,bring it on.

I can get up to 40mbps according to them
When I talk to AH they tell me that this is not correct and can only get stable internet at 3mbps.

If you read the site, it says that speeds are subject to copper quality, distance etc.
Your line obviously sucks.

Lol , this is priceless! 1Mb available yet it recognizes I am syncing at 4MB

Check your number here - http://www.telkom.co.za/checkadsl/
or phone Telkom and ask if you are on an IMAX port, a lot of patience and calls to Telkom might also be required to get your line converted as no one seems to have bothered to inform the staff working in the call centres.

That link says it's available, but when I phoned Telkom, their software doesn't give 20Mbps as an option to upgrade - max is 10Mbps. Seems Telkom billing hasn't caught up with the exchange yet, so it's USELESS.

The call centre informed me several times that the exchange does not support 20Mb/s. I also received a call from another department informing me of this and the lady was very adamant about it.
How did you end up getting it working?

Well some of you are lucky every time my router reboots my line speed changes. And it has taken Sh$tcom more then 6 Months to get all the issues solved and once it was solved the there was 4 more line breaks.

And still today the Underground cable is broken in places that casues the speed issues.

So i do not know how they think to activate a service on Sh&t copper. cannot wait for Cheap Fiber and move away from Sh$tcom.
