Telkom 20Mbps ADSL2+ service

reading that initial post properly would have helped.

but interesting to note that a adsl2+ modem is getting you that high a download speed. which modem is it btw?

Yeah, I thought the same. Mine peaks at around 18 when the line is busy, but speedtest reports 10-12 normally. I may try a port reset or two to see if that helps.

The map doesn't show 20Mbps available where I stay as yet. So you might want to send TelkomZA a pm and ask if you can get 20Mbps

Cool, thanks. It shows 'On Your Mark. Your area is currently under consideration for inclusion in our future up to 20/40 Mbps roll-out plan.' so will hear what he says.

I'm not seeing 'TelkomZA' on the member list, though...

I just wanted to update on my line that only synced 10Mbps.

I upgraded my line to 20Mbps and my modem only stuck at 10Mbps even though it was syncing at 20.

I was eventually told that I DO Need a VDSL Modem. I bought one at a steep price with the hopes that it wil get my internet at full speed. It did NOT. Same Issue.

After long discussions a couple of factory resets they did a port reset for the third time I think. Then all of a sudden my line speed went to 18Mbps.

I have bought a VDSL Modem for nothing.

This is just to let people know that here in Somerset-West it is indeed possible to reach 20Mbps on a ADSL2+ modem.

I posted elsewhere (maybe even here) that it will depend on what you are linked to....

For 20Mbps ADSL you do NOT need a VDSL modem.'

ADSL is provided via a DSLAM or IMAX.

VDSL is provided via a MSAN or ISAM.

My ISP first said I do not need a VDSL Modem, but then My modem still synced on 20Mbps but my Internet stuck on 10Mbps, so then they said I DO need a VDSL Modem. I then got one, still I had the same issue. Then only did they take it further and did port reset.

I tested my old modem a couple of days ago just for interest sake and I get the same speeds.
