Telkom 8 Mbps out the window

just spoke to telkom representative and they said when trials over we will have access to 8 mbit line speeds

and who owns the purple cabling?
 
WOW THIS COUNTRY REALLY SUCKS!!!! i cant believe that our maximum speed for ADSL is only 4mbs this is shocking
 
Right, Nice 8mb option, but im sure we all listened to the MyBB confrence, this is not liable, why look into 8mb when they cannot even service South Africans with a 1mb line, why have 8mp when the infastructure is not there yet, rather get the population with a 1mb line to start with then work on that
 
you dont need adsl2+ for a 8 meg line

everyones going about adsl2+, sure its great, but the current protocol we use G.DMT, allows up to 12mbits/s down and 1.3mbits/s up. on my router it says:

Max(Kbps): 10208 796
Rate (Kbps): 4096 512

So if telkom allowed it, on there current adsl 1 dslams they could bump us all up to 8mbits/s
