Telkom ADSL on Ubuntu Linux - please help

I should be able to do this as soon as i get to my laptop again as, like i said, the internet works perfectly fine when my ethernet cable is connected.

Thanks a lot :) now this response i actually understand. And i'm a "she" and it's and acer :P

Okay, so i've installed the driver but it still isn't picking up my wireless network. Are they any other settings that i need to add/change?

Hmm... does it tell you anything or are there just no networks showing in Network Manager?

Go to your terminal (like Veroland directed), and also run the following command:
Code:
lspci
Then paste the out put here. We will then see what type of hardware you are using.

Give us the above, or post the full specs of your laptop

...
04:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN (rev 01)
...
If the wireless isn't working, you have to activate/enable the proprietary Broadcom driver first. To do that, go to System menu -> Administration -> Hardware drivers. The "Broadcom STA wireless driver" should be listed there. Select it and then click the Activate button. The green circle next to "Broadcom STA wireless driver" should now turn green.

Here's a graphical article on how to activate it: http://playingwithsid.blogspot.com/2009/09/configure-broadcom-wireless-drivers.html

I though this nonsense was supposed to work outa the box.... haha
