Telkom cuts uncapped ADSL prices

Telkom has reduced the price of its copper-based DSL products to new customers and removed caps on these packages.

The promotional prices start at R199 for an initial 6-month period, aimed at providing uncapped Internet access to those who currently do not have fixed broadband.

So does the R210 voice line fee still have to be paid or do these new deals exclude the requirement?

This after they cut a bunch of people's copper. Shooting feet continuing unabated.

I have only one question. When can existing customers get their line rental portion cancelled?

The article says "The implication is that ADSL subscribers won’t have to pay an additional R210 each month for a Telkom line, if they don’t intend on using it for telephone calls." and that is very vague, not convincing as yet

So i sent an email to openserve yesterday about their "Openserve Pure Connect" offering and they responded and I quote

"Good day

Our ISP partners will have access to the product from 15 May 2020.

We are certain that they are busy putting together some fantastic broadband packages for you, based on our Pure Connect product.

Keep an eye out for their newest offers or enquire with them later this month

Regards"

I dont have Fibre so this would be a game changer for many people with the option to choose their own ISP without paying line rental.

Yes. You should not even have interaction with Openserve. Let's see if any of the ISP's can come up with a month-to-month deal on this. Otherwise be very, very, very careful of long term contracts that involve Telkom/Openserve.

True, Openserve should be a no no. The only reason why I emailed them directly because they have spoken about Naked ADSL for years so i didnt want to get my hopes up. Seems like the new Openserve COO is working compared to the former employees of that position.

Is this including or excluding the line rental?
