Telkom cuts uncapped ADSL prices

I have a effective 50kbps speed, I had to move it around manually now..... I know the pain.

Thanx the dp speed is 20mps, through openserve map had me at 40mps and manage to sign up for 40mps.
Had pretty good line stats when i had 20mps line before.

Will see when they pitch up to see what speeds I can get.

Up one road does have 40mps.

Did they tell you when they will arrive? Mine is showing pending warehouse stock when I check on their app

Not yet. But last time it was installed by a 3rd party company. The guy was really quick as they only get paid once job is done. Had my line installed last time 2 days total from order.

Hopefully they still using same company.

I have vdsl router with me so can use that one for now.
 
This is the WebAfrica ADSL location checker page. This appears to have the correct infrmation but I'm not sure whether it is still accurate.

If you click on the Explore Telkom's Coverage Options link, and then click on the Is My Area Covered link next to ADSL, you are supposed to be able to enter your Telkom landline number but I am unable to get any response apart from a spinning cursor.

Telkom also has two Yealink Voip phones available on their IP Voice service - the Yealink T21P E2 and the W52P. The T21P E2 sells for R749-00 and the W52P is R1379-00. It might be worth enquiring whether it would be possible to choose one of these devices instead of a free router (on a 24 month contract) if anybody wants to make use of a Voip service.
 
so is there any catch on this

parents have a line at they home which they pay around +-R200 a month for calls only

if we add this is it going to be the 199pm and then 349 pm for 4mb uncapped

any FUP on the cap ?

is 4mb good enough for netflix and stuff ?
 
i called telkom, they told me if i wanted to move to naked adsl will have to pay R800 for installation, which is retard since i already have a adsl, on top of that only telkom can offer us the naked adsl.

You make sure the agent knows and double check that it is month-to-month. Ask them your monthly payment in the end and verify against non-promo price in the OP.

Do NOT try to cancel your line on your existing package. Don't even mention anything like that, just change to Home Unlimited Lite. It is by default with no voice line.

The aim here is not to make the agent think or confuse him/her with too much extra info.

IF you need any line or adsl installation...which you don't. That is for new customers. Most companies' product literature is always geared towards new customers.

as per the sales agent, if you have moving ISP they would need to disconnect you landline and give notice and reconnect you at the exchange.

Ok then, that was always the case. I was assuming here telkom is already your isp.

Then your only option here is to take the promo deal for 24 months and sell the router. Or wait for your isp to come on board. If you are looking at adsl in 2020, chances are you going to have no other choice for quite some time.
The 24 month contract is not really a big deal, you can cancel at any time and just get billed pro rata for the free stuff. And even that is not really an issue as you already save at least R780 on the 6 months alone, which covers the installation fee.
