Guess you have to wait for afrihost or webafrica. It's there a way to get this month to month and not 24 months contract?

Telkom gave me no option when I signed up today.
Thats not bad, fibre won't happen soon and 40mps vdsl will cut it off now. When I spoke to a Telkom sales consultant, she said it is month to month but the contract portion is for the router and installation. So, there is a claw back period... if you cancel before the 24 months you are liable to pay for the router from what I understand, not the actually service portion. And if you eventually have the option to upgrade to Fibre with them, there wont be any charges added to that upgrade/move.
So my understanding from this is people who already have adsl installed and also their own modem will STILL have to pay for the installation and a new modem? Is there no option to take it on a month to month without the new modem and no need to pay for installation? They have updated the site with new info and options...here are some of the T&Cs pulled from the pdf on it..
10. When does the promotion start and end? The promotion starts on the 15 th of May and it ends on the 30th of September 2020.
11. What will happen after 6 months? The customer will no longer pay the promotional price; they will pay the standard subscription price.
12. Will a month to month customer qualify for the router and installation? We offer 2 options: • Month to month: The customer will pay for the router and installation as part of their first invoice. No claw back cost will be recovered should the customer decide to cancel the service. Frequently Asked Questions: COVID-19 DSL offers • Month to month (24-month claw back period): This will include the router and installation at no additional cost to the customer, however, the pro-rated remaining cost of the installation and router will be charged at the time of cancellation, if cancelled prior to the 24 months.
13. What will happen if the customer cancels before the 24 months? The pro-rated remaining cost of the installation and router will be charged at the time of cancellation, if cancelled prior to the 24 months’ term.
No man. Installation is only for new installs, there's nothing to install for you. That should be obvious, it don't have to explicitly say so. You then just start off paying the standard price. So my understanding from this is people who already have adsl installed and also their own modem will STILL have to pay for the installation and a new modem?
20mps can sync on vdsl or adsl. Vdsl better upload speeds and line stats. You might have phone to drop you to adsl profile.I'm confused guys. I wanted to get the 20mb premium package but idk if this is an ADSL/VDSL offering ? If it's VDSL, I'm going to have to get a new modem etc and I really don't want to have to sign a 24 month contract. Please help
I see. Thank you. It's unfortunate that there's no fibre in my area so this 20mb deal is actually a steal!20mps can sync on vdsl or adsl. Vdsl better upload speeds and line stats. You might have phone to drop you to adsl profile.
Assuming that 20mb ADSL is available in your areaI see. Thank you. It's unfortunate that there's no fibre in my area so this 20mb deal is actually a steal!
Yeah. Our area supports vdsl up to 40mb.Assuming that 20mb ADSL is available in your area
Is there any reliable way to check whether you can still order ADSL?
The Telkom ADSL Checker Tool reroutes to this page - https://secure.telkom.co.za/today/ucm/ which shows that I no longer have coverage.
The Openserve coverage page (https://openserve.co.za/open/support/check-coverage/) also shows no coverage but the WebAfrica ADSL address tool shows that ADSL is still available. I last used ADSL on my current landline 2.5 years ago.
I have tried to contact Telkom via their online chat but they suggest calling 10213 which seems to be very busy or unavailable at the moment.
I also saw this now. The coverage map used to show I'm covered for up to 20mbps but now it's saying I don't get adsl in my area. There's something fishy about Telkoms Technolgy coverage map... The other day (When the DSL deals were announced) it said the entire town has access to 10mbps ADSL, now it says only certain parts has access to 4mbps ADSL. My router's attainable rate fluctuates between 10mbps and 20mbps. I don't know If I'm looking for a problem but this is most certianly concerning as I want to upgrade my speed. I hope Telkom is not reducing these rates on purpose because they know their infrastructure is going to struggle.
