Good idea I think, but sadly I doubt Telkom's infrastructure could handle it. DSLAMs and exchanges will get congested so quickly in many areas that internet access will come to a crawl. Telkom will simply shrug their shoulders and say that we pay a fixed rate for best effort, and currently best effort in your area means 56kbps, sorry. No, with Telkom involved I only see a disaster waiting to happen.
I really don't see this happening. Ever. /thread
I think this is possible. I think this will come about around November this year when they introduce Bit Stream. This way ISP's will have access to the exchange. With all this new under sea cables coming I dont see why this cant happen. The latest cable to come to our shores was WACS which runs speeds of 5Tbps. We have our required link to the world its now an internal battle. Also its the country's plan to have dsl in every household by 2020. So why cant this happen?
I cant wait till Telkom is dead.
This is the way many SA's feel and unfortunately they are so integrated... lets just say its the same problem we have with Eskom
