Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

I too recall the 18 Feb as the magic number! who is home to do some tests.

Things are definitely looking up.

I finished downloading a Win8.1 iso earlier today torrent and it went like the clappers.
Now got a 1.15GB torrent going with only 15 peers and that's pegged at 184kB/s

This is on a 2Mb/s line.

I am at home - Son is in a Guild Wars 2 dungeon, and when ever there is some action, he lags his rear end off ...

Switched of Wi-Fi and all other computers to no avail.

Nice!

you say Streaming without buffer - Is this 720/1080/480?

And your gaming, are you on a console or PC?

Streaming 480p via PS3 - netflix
Gaming bf4 on PS4 with no lag
Using Unlocator as DNS

I was at home all day and I ran my line through some tests while home today and things are definetly looking on the up.

Torrents were running like the old days, 380-420kB/s.
NZBs were running at 420kB/s flat out.
Streamed some Scrubbing In from MTV and it sat on HD (2.2mb stream) consistently. Before it would stutter like crazy as the stream kept switching quality from 750kbps to 2.2mb and back down again.

Compared to last week this is a great improvement.

Lets hope it stays like this. Last time they "fixed" it evrything was great for a few weeks for me and then it all went pear shaped again.

I don't know what some are raving about... I've just fired up the Telkom account and stream quality is atrocious. Afrihost streaming like a mofo.

Downloading a linux iso via http with wget and streaming 480p youtube just fine here on a 2Mb/s line.

Well no changes here by me, browsing still sucks never mind anything else.

Sigh, router needs another reboot. My adsl service is using up all my 3G data :(

Anybody know what's happening here?

Crap for me since I got home. Dunno what everyone is raving about. Torrents only did 2gb between 11pm yesterday and 6pm today

Thats awesome hey, wanted to test my streaming and gaming last night, tbh i think may streamings been fine, its just my gaming that's been a bit laggy, but yeah.

I am going to test everything tonight.

Streaming was pretty poor last night.
I had to buffer shows for 20 minutes to be able to watch the show and even then it started buffering again before the end of the program.
480p low res files that still need to buffer to be watchable.

This is really becoming a pain for me now.
What's the point of having a 4mb line if you can't even stream low quality content.
And why exactly is the issue so compounded after 9pm?
I would think it would get better later.

Thats exactly when i noticed my issue with my GPU Driver update, i 1st clicked download for the update at about 20:45 or so, it ran as normal, so i had to pause it for my Sickbeard to update quickly, and at about 21:00 i tried to resume, but the speed just was not picking up, so i cancelled it and restarted it, and it just would not start downloading... And then according to my Networx monitor, my line speed was picking up and then dropping constantly...?

My line seems to be working again since last
I managed to stream Netflix for about 2 hours without any issues
I am in Durban Hilcrest running 4 meg adsl
