That's exchange congestion. Notify Telkom of it on the phone if you have time, or tell your neighbourhood to get off Netflix. Only things you can do.


Got a reply from TelkomZA with regards to some YouTube streaming issues quite a lot of people seem to be encountering. Apparently a new IPC was set up about a week ago, which might be the cause of the problem. I was given a test account and have replied with some (hopefully) relevant information. Will post when they reply.

Your password probably needs to be changed to a "suitable" password. Needs to start with an uppercase character, have upper and lower-case characters, have special characters and numerical characters. It's some weird thing with Telkom.

I was actually able to use my TI last night. Lets hope its sorted now.
 
Been good today so far. Torrents are non-existent, which I'm not really too phased about. I'd rather be able to browse the internet and watch youtube videos than download "Linux Distros".

Now let's see if it handles the infamous 18:30-21:00PM traffic.
 
This I don't understand. Reading through the "TELKOMZA" thread here http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/544781-TelkomZA/page50 it seems they seem to be responding (very selectively) to certain people. Others (like me) are simply ignored point blank!

I feel the people that are suffering from ISP congestion due to poor planning (from the ISP's part) are being ignored as there is nothing that can be done until they get more IPC and are only responding to people with telkom infrastructure problems ie; line/exchange issues?
 
If i was canceling due to wanting to go to a different ISP purely for kicks then yes, no biggie. However, the fact that I am cancelling due to not receiving the service i have been paying for, for the past 4 months does justify why I dont want to pay them the difference.

IMHO, all ISP's are the same when they are in this situation, and we end up being treated like mushrooms which are kept in the dark.

I've had this with AH, WA, the 2 biggies in my situation. MWEB, OW just had crap accounts to begin with (uncapped premium and gold original), and at the end of the day, one has to cut your losses and pay 2 ISP's literally to keep ones sanity, which has taught me never to sign up with an ISP that has a calendar month notice policy.

Well, as soon as the weekend rolled around, this went completely pear-shaped.

A speed test shows perfect latency, and max line speeds:



Actual game latency is utterly awful, and downloading a Youtube video gives:

What is going on?

We are now back to the situation where speedtest results are amazing, but the actual performance is virtually unusable.

I would very much appreciate feedback about this ASAP.

I'm having a problem browsing local... International seems fine Thou. Anybody else having the same issue?
 
My speed-tests and browsing is fie but I am struggling to stream Rdio... whats up?
