Telkom Internet May

I'm happy for the guys who are able to d/l all that extra Gb before getting capped, but really, this is a great example of anti-competitive practice. I won't go there on principle.

I am with you on this one. I wonder how many people TelkomInternet would have using them if they did not have this relaxed capping policy?

Well I wonder how many people are using Telkom because of it?

I'm sure lots of people won't touch Telkom on basic principal.

The leniant capping is going to appeal more to some kinds of people than others (like yourselves), me on the other hand thinks that leniant capping is great. :D

I have noticed in the past few months I'm not getting as much out of it. :mad:
You guys that are getting like 18gb in 3 days must have 4mbps, I have 384kbps.
It seems to me like if you want to really milk it you have to go nuts right at the beggining of the month, I have gotten the most doing it like that, but then it sucks sitting around on local only for the rest of the month.

What Line seed do you have?
Cause on my 386 Do2gb shapped line I got... and this cant be right cause it was on 2.9gb two days ago I think TI is on the blink again. P.S. Got capped today.

So Telkom are totally erratic with this policy... I have a 2Gb account and I thought there was 20gb local with it... I can browse the net but no news server... I discovered they are sending me via a proxy for browsing:

My external IP is 41.x.x.x and there is nothing but browsing for me - no more news, despite the fact that I paid for the 20Gb local... I cannot use it...

What are you talking about. Thats the normal telkom/saix proxy. What do you mean no news server? Is it refusing your connections?

TI Cap rules

A colleague of mine - 125 Gigs by 2nd week May, capped and informed second highest user in SA by TI.
Telkom caps when Exchange cap threshold is reached, all those who exceed cap consistently get monitored and are then capped earlier than threshold, but have seen TI allow upto 4X more on a 3G account and not charge. The idea is all about last session before month end, you cannot get capped in an active session. When session ends, cap is captured to tracker, that is luck for many, only applicable for TI.

No ping to news server....
But it comes back every so often...
