mybb posting power +90000 i agree :D

Someone should send him some cold beer/beverage on behalf of us all imo :O

Can you send sleep? Or the training for the Argus I missed?

Thanks for the positive feedback, I will pass it on to other resources who were involved (if they aren't lurking).

Here in the helderberg area there is still no improvement.

YouTube barely streaming 480p
HTTP downloads crawl
iOS store not loading at all
Battle log timing out often
Yet on other isp's all the above work like a charm.

@ranger you have my username, I would appreciate if you could look into it.

Thanks

The Cape Town PoP is running at higher (percentage-wise) utilisation of its capacity. We are investigating our options there.

We may have to temporarily reduce the bandwidth available to P2P to ensure HTTP, streaming, gaming etc. are not impacted too adversely.

Ok news-servers + torrents is dead , no youtube , facebook pics takes forever to load and i'm on 4mb line in the Boland area western cape. :-(

What exactly do yo u mean by the Cape Town PoP?
Why is it so different to what we had in the past that over-utilisation, can be region specific? It never happened before.
Just trying to understand....

I can't see how this is possible, except if you have something congesting your uplink. We have the same capacity up and down, and obviously (due to the A part in ADSL), the uplink has much less utilisation ...

But, if you PM me your username I will try and take a look at what we see on our side ....

Then why are we limited to such poor upload speeds? I always thought there was some other reason, but if the backhaul is synchronous, can't we get more upload?

Some ISPs in the UK let you sacrifice some download to get a higher upload.

Your line to the DSLAM is async, our capacity from the DSLAM/BRAS to the internet is sync. So, you should be able to achieve 'line-speed' uploads (e.g. 256k on 2Mbps etc), but beware that congesting your uplink will impact your downlink (so limit upload to about 75% of your uplink speed).

Basically I'm asking why can't we get uploads more than 1Mb/s?

Does Telkom Make use of Annex M?

In Cape Town on 4meg uncapped and only get 2 meg according to Speedtest.net and this site's speed test, but when using MWeb I get full 4 meg speed. Torrents running at around 30 kB/s, Youtube can go up to 480p but buffers on 720p and http downloads run at around 100 kB/s. Like I mentioned when using MWeb everything runs pretty much full speed. My biggest issue at the moment is my line running at half the speed with Telkom.

Ranger thanks for help so far. Some feedback for you.

Youtube: Still has not been fixed for me at least. It's extremely random. Yesterday no problems todays crawling. 720p does not work at all on my 8meg line.

Gaming: Black Ops still connects

Websites: Random. Not as good as over the weekend.

Standard Downloads: Run fine getting around 80% of my 8meg connection

well I achieved a new high maybe? 13GB downloaded and 4GB uploaded during the day today on p2p...... Impressive was not expecting it since I forgot to close the torrent client..... :)

Location? Western Cape?

Hey ranger, another quick question: what is happening to people in Durban using the SAIX exchange over there? Over the last year whenever I do a Speedtest to the SAIX server in Durban it always returns horrible stats, while JHB and CPT speedtests are perfectly normal.
