So Telkom it's been 10 days and still no light at the end of the tunnel. Someone explain this to me, same adsl line but two different ISPs. Both 4meg uncapped, one Telkom one MWeb.

Also seem to be having problems with Microsoft update servers. A Win8 machine I was setting up would not update under TI and worked fine under Mweb.

Can I report problems I'm experiencing with Telkom uncapped, but not with the capped account, nor with other ISP's, as a fault with Telkom?

This would include, but not limited too:
Can't log into COD servers
Can't update my cell phone apps via Google playstore

The very slow speeds apparently are because of a congested exchange and I hope they will sort that soon enough.

Obviously I hope they will attend to my problems if I report it, but if not, I would like to have a record of my problems.

NNTP for me has been awesome. Full line speed since Friday evening. I barely use torrents, but 2 torrents from RUTracker went at 60-90% full line speed. Apple App Store & i-Tunes were broken due to the IP range, but that seems fixed since this morning... however, some of my favourite streaming audio stations keep buffering every few seconds (so that is not quite up to scratch). Youtube is fine, browsing is awesome. Still getting IP not valid on one or two http filehosts. Through all of this, the service is more consistent than my MWeb experience. If things continue to improve from here, I will be satisfied.

With all the negativity even from myself I hope this is just telkom trying to get their shaping policies sorted. I think the majority of folks dont mind shaping during business hours but give us something decent for p2p after hours and weekends even if its 70 percent of our line speed, at least that would suit my needs, browsing and streaming are perfroming rather well so no worries there. Thumbs up. :)

I could actually log into COD servers.First time since Wednesday.
NAT showed as "moderate", although I have done port forwarding and set to DMZ mode.
Is a start though. Hope it lasts.

So what's the verdict? Should I keep my MWEB account for now?

If I were in your position I would give Telkom a bit more time to drill down everything. Seems they are getting there, but it has been proven that every ISP that took these steps, need time to iron the network out.

Thanks, that's what I'm thinking too.

I just updated about 9 apps via the Google Playstore for Android and Samsung store.
No more 495 errors and all the programs updated.

Back on track again (2Mbps TI uncapped):

View attachment 38578

I saw this post while at a mates place - rushed home, started a few torrents at about 11pm & got 180k/s for an hour - was brilliant. Then after midnight it started to slow down progressively, now back to 30k/s!

EDIT: ...an hour later - now below 10k/s...
