I am on TI DO uncapped basic. For 4 days already I cannot download anything anymore from the file sharing sites, like Luckyshare, Rapidgator, Extabit, Uploaded.net etc., even have problems with upgrades from Adobe, Antivirus etc. I can start downloads, but halfway through it brakes up like someone is watching and prohibiting me. For sure I did not download more than 5 gig this month.
Complaining to them, after 2 days a Lebogang answered me telling me to run a ping and tracert check.
I don't need this in my life and go right now to the Telkom shop and terminate everything Telkom.

well i phoned the help desk and i was running at 2mb they upped me to 4mb , i confirmed this on my router, they even sent out a telkom guy to my house to test. He moved my "port" on the telkom box on my corner to a new "position in the cabinet" and made a call bla bla bla long story short he was at my house for almost 3 hours and could not get it faster but he refused to say that i was throttled......
Funny thing is on the 1st of march i had full speed like I said and the next day it was painfully slow and still is

Hi my name is fish_man and I'm moving ISP at the end of the month.......

Just to make sure?
Was your line speed 2Mbps and you upped that to 4Mbps?

If so is your data package also 4Mbps? It could be that your line speed is 4Mbps, but you need have your data package at 4Mbps as well if you want full line speed.

That is the reason you were advised to test with the Afrihost free GB deal.
I can even borrow you my Afrihost details if you do not want get hold of the Afrihost deal.

If you get full speed with a package from another ISp, the problem is definitely with TI(ISP)

You contact Telkom with a complaint.
I assume you want the problem rectified, but when they want to start with problem solving you decide it is not for you?

If you do not know how to do it, just ask here and we can help you.
To do a ping test and a trace route test will take 5 minutes?

General Feedback

TI 2Mb uncapped, line only syncs @ 1.52Mb

Youtube 720p Hd only buffers at start.

Gaming, don't do online gaming.

NNTP, Torrent and streaming, all ok.

No soft capping or any other problems experienced yet. :)

Hello everyone.

Telkom will (hopefully) be installing my telephone line today. I am planning to go with MWeb's 2MB uncapped at R599.

However, with Telkom's recent changes, and the fact that its R459 a month, this makes for a sound deal.

abs1 mentioned that Gaming is a no go. Could anyone else comment about this?

I am a heavy downloader, but the 200GB (from what I read..) softcap on the 2MB account is fine for me.

Should I stick with MWeb? I don't see the point in paying R150 extra is the service is going to be similar. (Minus the 200GB softcap part)

I think abs1 meant that, like myself, he doesn't do any online gaming and hence cannot comment. That said, die-hard gamers seem to prefer other ISPs for reliable, low ping times to overseas servers.

I play GT5, COD, BF3, Dust514, DC Universe on a daily basis without too much hassle. COD does lag a bit at times, but eveybody experience that at times.

Hi Guys, i just cancelled with MWEB because I cant stream anything even at 240p!! I was looking at the Telkom 2MB account.

I want to use it primarily for surfing and watching tons of youtube. I'm not a serial downloader and worst worst case is probably about 80gigs a month. Would you recommend the 2mg uncapped package?

Hi All

So I have been going through some of the posts as far back as start 2013
and I get a general feeling of mixed emotions of Telkom Uncapped packages
Specially in the Cape Town area

Well he questions I would like to know are the following: mainly directed to the Cape Town and Southern Suburbs
How is Telkom's NewsServer with the various Packages 1-4MB
How are the experiences with online gaming via Console namely PS3 on the various packages
What are the Throttling ranges for the PAckages? general feel i have gotten is that 1MB = 100GB, 2MB = 250GB,4MB=320GB is this correct?

Thanks for the feedback. I'd definitely be playing games online. I'll report back once I've got some information about this.

I applied for the 2MB uncapped account + line at Telkom yesterday. R459 a month is actually a really good deal.

What I was most surprised about was the fact that the DSL line should be ready by Thursday afternoon / Friday morning. Yay internet for this weekend!! :D

However, shame on the person that processed my application @ Telkom Direct, Bayside Centre, Table View. He told me to pickup my modem on Friday. That automatically told me that he was signing me into a 24 month contract, which I obviously don't want! Thank god I put the brakes on that...

Regarding that softcap... It appears that 200GB is the limit before throttling takes place, but I can't read this anywhere on Telkom's site (apologies if I haven't looked hard enough...) Is this true???
