So far on a 4Mbps line
Positives:
Latency: Local - 60 compared to 211 ms previously
Int - 209 - 220 ms compared to 413 - 700 ms previously.
Gaming (PS3):
COD MW3 now connects for me. Haven't tested COD BLOPS 2 yet
GT5 worked great with no lag, but only 7 racers on grid.
all other games I tested before still work grt
Streaming / Videos:
Youtube only stream without stutter at 240 or 320p. Might be my poor dl speed?
Supersport streams without any stutter
Browsing:
Most of the time okayish, nothing great.
Downloads
Haven't seen high Http downloads speeds in a while now, but have reached full speed at times, but mostly in the region of 80 -115 KB/s
Can now download from Google Playstore (Android store) via my phone using wireless..
Negatives:
I apparently have an exchange problem, but my dl speed is even worse under uncapped conditions
My upload is good, but download is terrible.
Mostly terrible connection speed to gaming servers (according to PS3 speedtest)
Totally weird:
I have an Afrihost capped account as backup.
A couple of years ago, I used the app called "Traffic Splitter" created by Padda. I used it to split a "Local only" account from my Telkom international account.
Haven't used in a while though.
Yesterday I logged my Afrihost acc details into my PS3 via PPPoE method and immediately got a 3Mbps connection. HAven't seen that since about August last year.
I used the same PPPoE method on my PC, but the speed was back to 0.41 Mbps, same as TI
I then used the Traffic Splitter app and pointed Afrihost to International and Telkom to local and I received the 3 Mbps speedtest on Intl again, but local (Telkom) was 0.41Mbps. Both accounts are for Intl and local use though.
I then reversed the accounts and Telkom was now Intl. I received a 2.8 Mbps intl rating and 0.4 Mbps rating on local using Afrihost?
I have since discontinued the Traffic splitter and are only using TI uncapped with the slow results as posted.
If my exchange is buggered why am I getting close to full speed when I combine the accounts via Traffic Splitter?
Why only high speeds when I use traffic splitter?
Haven't tested it again, might over the weekend again.
