Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

So seemed the LIT box did a whole host of updates. One is a system update. It restarted and now I see Telkom LIT splash for the last 10 minutes and nothing is happening. Must injustice leave it?
You may need to unplug the power and power it on again if it is stuck on the boot logo for that long.

Yeah that is the IPv6 link local ip address. The device still has a mac address though.
If your router running the dhcp allows you, look at the associated mac address for that 192.168.1.253 ip address.
 
Any ideas why DSTV is not giving all the channels? The app on my phone has all channels but not the LIT

interestingly the router doesn't show that address under dhcp clients

edit - it ocurred to me that under about - information it should list the mac address. and it indeed it does.

it hasn't changed. yet for some reason the router has stopped assigning the lit box its reserved ip address for some reason.

it's not a train smash but still an interesting development.

What does it say ?
It was saying NW-2-5 then I got to more details and check network ot all has ticks. The TV box upstairs is working fine. So i dont known what to check next.
I even signed out of all devices and the same

You using a Wireless connection?
 
Maybe just factory reset ?

I often tell friends once they've upgraded fully - just reset again.

Just did that a second time. Same result. Bit it shows the network is fine no issues. Even logged a ticket with the ISP

Very odd- there was another guy on here with the same issue :/

But you said it works upstairs ?
And 8.2.38 ?

Yes working upstairs on Android 6 and on my phone android 8.1. Just not on this LIT box.
I flowed all the trouble shooting guides for the error code. My ISP says all is fine and they reset my link. Still the same
 
Weird part is after each reset and the try and connect to Netflix I get an email that says a sign in was detected. If it's me I can relax.
So something is working BUT it isn't on the box
 
I went as far as switching to wifi then a hotspot o on my phone and ingetbthensame error YET mybphone connects to Netflix no issues
 
Ok so i downloaded the latest apk and installed on the lit. Once installed o opened it and it connected immediately!!
 
I can open Netflix from install but if I close Netflix and reopen it i get nw-2-5 again even with a different version.
I think it's the firmware of the LIT itself that's the issue
