Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

I've tried to search this thread, but gave up.

Can someone point me in the direction of a browser for the LIT box that does not need a mouse to operate?

Nology are still trying to sort out the Netflix problem that I have after the updates, so I want to try run Netflix on a browser.

You can try Puffin browser ...

I tried that - unfortunately, Netflix is now baked into the firmware, so I can't uninstall it, only disable it. When I try to sideload an alternative version (the version I've been using happily until the updates), the install fails, presumably because it is an older version than what is already on the box.

I tried running Netflix in a browser (Chrome) - I can log in, access all the menus etc, but when I try play any content it does nothing and there is a prominent button suggesting I should install the Netflix app. I may try Puffin or another browser.

When buying a new LIT box, does it come with the new Oreo, does it have to be upgraded, like the old versions.

The devices in store currently will have to go through the update process since they are still on Android 7. The new shipments (B10) will land with Oreo, but they are not yet available.

No SD card bud. It's stock standard I have done nothing to the box since I've got it. First update but it doesn't want to install and keeps on showing this error then boots up again.
I'm having the same problem. Won't update and no SD card inserted.

My box keeps shutting off and doing this. It's a recent update, haven't had this problem since. What can I do?

I had the same problem. Thanks Nology, I'm sorted now.

PS! I reported the problem and it auto updated while I was at work.

You teasing us, any hardware refinements :)? I think this should come standard with a functional mic on the new remote coming in Jan '19 but anything else?? A controller for Android TV games :Dperhaps.

Updated itself yesterday.

Thank goodness for this thread 'cos I knew, more or less, what to expect.

I wasn't around when the update notice popped, so was called to be told

MiL: "DSTV isn't working, the TV is just flashing"
Me: "How long for"
MiL: "No idea"

- Switch off, switch on - Update 1 completes
- Enter credentials, of course DSTV app doesn't work (doesn't help that the 'sample' screenshot on the DSTV app has a code that doesn't of course work <----- the source of much confusion in the thread here)
- Pull plug, startup again, 3rd blue light blinking; check on Router, yep, it's d/l'ing something
- Wait until I can see that nothing's coming down any longer
- restart Lit - wait......DSTV App (pending install) <---- does nothing; cancel, re-initiate update ------> voila, starts updating - new code pops up, over to DSTV website and......tada,

All working

Looks great; works well

What a crap upgrade process though.
Are you running Netflix? Any issues?
