Telkom LIT Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

You buy this thing (https://www.smartkit.co.za/product/sonoff-basic/) ... it's a WiFi relay.

You can connect it to lights or appliances and then switch them on / off via cellphone or voice (Google Home or Amazon Alexa). You can schedule, loop timer etc as well - quite nifty. My outdoor lights (and a lamp indoors) comes automatically at sunrise and off at sunset, as they're linked toa weather channel online. I've got my TV linked too ... so when my TV turns on, my dining room turns on behind me (ambient light).

Then when I say 'Alexa, good night' - my TV (and amp) turn off, as well as the indoor lights.

My water fountain is attached to one as well, but that's mainly for the scheduling feature

EDIT : But I don't think it can do it via the LIT ... (or any Android box)
Ahhhh ok yes i use sonoff as well wasn't sure if they were connecting to the lit lol

When anyone finds the new box and new remote in a store. Kindly drop a note here

Hey guys is there an app that serves British comedy that can be installed on LIT Monty python etc etc

Regarding new remote, friend purchased a B10 box today which came with new remote. The remote functions on BT fully. Blocking the remote's direct line of sight to box still functions 100%.

Friend bought B10 with new remote from Menlyn Mall Telkom store this morning. Centurion Mall didn't have stock.
Awesome...

So wasn't as long as I thought for Telkom to get out into the stores

Yea man... Sorry.

Could have gone either way. But it's the same, barring the remote
Yeah for sure. No apologies necessary :) I ordered two remotes that also have gyroscopic input. May be good for the kids for games

Is nobody bothered by the fact that this box output only at 60p, i.e. no dynamic refresh rate switching? This results in all 25p, 24p, 50p content having judder, more noticeable in panning scenes.

Some people are more prone to being distracted by it than others, me being one of them.

Apparently later high end panels can interpret and correct this, but older panels not.

For example kodi plays all videos perfectly on my older plasma and lcd tvs, since it selects the correct output to tv based on the source framerate.

The lit box does not.

The Mi Box just now has beta firmware with working refresh rate switching and that came out in 2016. People are just going to have to bug Nology and let them know it's a needed feature.

@milomak does the Google voice work with this remote? Can't seem to get that working. Also do I have to have the LIT on wifi or can i have it plugged into LAN?
haven't tried the voice. i wouldn't bet on it

works on both wifi and lan
