Yesterday I set up my Telkom Mobile LTE sim card in my own Huawei B315 router. It works perfectly, but I notice that the APN was automatically acquired and set to 8ta. The online structions say to use the APN TelkomInternet.

I am reluctant to change it, since it is all up and running. My question is - is there any disadvantage to leaving it as is?

Nope, if it automatically acquired 8ta, it's fine. TelkomInternet / 8ta is the same thing, doubt there will be any disadvantage, but maybe change it anyway? You never know, just now Telkom will bill you for something and claim you never used the correct APN and use that as an excuse to bill you thousands

The telkominternet APN is for the Integrated Data Sim where it will deplete data from your ADSL data. The normal internet or 8ta APN is nornal Telkom Mobile data.

What do you have? I have both, and the normal APN will not work on the Telkom Internet sim.

I stumbled across this thread so not sure if I'm gonna get a response but here goes.

I've currently got the Telkom LTE uncapped package and to date it's worked great but all of a sudden, my performance has halved(70mb/s to 30mb/s). The signal stats have remained very strong and connecting to the same tower which was giving great performance. When I called TM, they told me that I need to change the APN settings from TM (which came as the default on the B315) to 8ta by creating a new profile.

I haven't had a chance to change this yet but any idea if this will work?
