I am happy you experiencing full speeds but kind of jealous.

My base station I connect 2 seems forked up

Thank you. I did notice they tried to contact me today 021 xxxxx but missed the call as I was busy. Hopefully this can get resolved soon cos it is irritating during the weekend experiencing faster upload speed then download speed. *Crossing fingers*

Midstream Estate: Had a rep from Telkom Mobile, Gerhardt, giving a LTE demo at my place on Tuesday night. 24.29 Down and 7.13 up with a ping of 40ms

As you'll notice as of lately my upload speed is faster than my download speed. It doesn't matter which speed test server I am using. It would be nice if Telkom Mobile would launch their own SpeedTest server at zero-rated for testing purposes.

I am assuming the base station I connect 2 has interference problems or something. This hasn't been the first time this has happened. If the base station is already congested then practically I am screwed until another lte station is built.

Crossing fingers that Telkom Mobile can isolate the problem.

Sorry for another POST couldn't attach the image as I am using my mobile phone. You will see the upload is faster without any content being downloaded. When I do download notice the speed fluctuates.tmp_Screenshot_2014-04-26-23-58-26-727206569.png

In comparison, your RSRQ is better than mine so you should get better speeds. Remember RSSI is applicable to 3G and not LTE.

So looks like Telkom Mobile also joined in the action upgrading its towers to LTE in Richards Bay.

I'm home today and bored so I'm playing with my tech and decided to pop a Telkom Mobile sim in my afrihost mifi and boom. 1 bar LTE.

I know I'm actually very far from the tower but the fact that I am getting LTE at my home is very cool even though its just 1 bar. An antenna would mostlikely bring it up but I got adsl so the LTE is actually nice to see at my home. As you can see from the upload speed I am far away from the tower but I know where the tower is and I will do a speedtest when I am near it to see how fast it actually is as I drive past it to work......

Sweet. The people that bought from TM must be miffed. I tested one myself and while it showed MTN SP, there was no connection.

Yeah there is so many models of this mifi. I counted 8 I think. We get 2 in SA. The one that ONLY works with Telkom Mobile LTE and 3G for the other networks and the other one works with MTN LTE, Vodacom LTE and Telkom Mobile LTE and 3G on all network. Thats the one afrihost sells. What a awesome device. Happy with it since day one and will NEVER sell it.

I feel tempted to purchase this MiFi device but currently it's sold out! Hopefully they will restock soon. Interest free is brandplus in my books. Cavedog, how long have you had the device for.

What's the model of this MiFi device ?

I have it like 3 or 4 months now. Not a single problem with it actually. Very good device.

The device is Huawei E5776 with model number E5776s-601

Sweet. That's a solid result. Glad it's looking so good again!

Incidentally here's a new result since I have a new laptop and desktops/laptops generally get better results over WiFi:

Azimuth - has bragging rights :) Best speed test result I have ever seen on LTE

Azimuth, love your speedtest results! I should relocate to your premises - max I get in my area is around 22 meg but they are still investigating what is the cause of the problem cos on weekends speeds are inline with 3G which is unacceptable.

Highly doubt that the new laptop has something to do with it. I have run a few test on the iPad and my results are the same no matter what smart phone I use.

Well, remember I got 73Mbps before. I used to get 50-60Mbps regularly on a desktop. All using LPDA-0092 antennas.

Since the start of this thread, I've consistently found desktop and laptop results to be faster than mobile devices. I guess with high quality WiFi it's similar to a direct connection to a LAN port on the B593. Then again, Speedtest over WiFi has never been recommended for this reason. I don't use a LAN connection ever so it isn't an option for me.
