LTE at its finest.

Not.

This is killing me. :(

Sucks man! In Durban I get about 20Mbps I'd post a speed test but I'm down at the coast enjoying some very good 3G:D

Day 3 and the broken service persists.

The address of the tower is 521-528 Banket Drive W Roodepoort. I've just logged a case so let's see what materialises. Maybe they throw the "you're out of signal coverage, don't use our service" line at me again....

Luckily I have hundreds of speed tests on record to know the tower is broken. :)

Case # 7612642.

Woah hold the bus. It seems my Unifi software controller has fallen over and is auto limiting all APs. I found this out coincidentally when I jumped on my MacBook this evening. Perhaps an automatic firmware update buggered up.

I tested my MacBook on one of the LAN ports on my B593 LTE router and getting full speeds.

Sorry Telkom Mobile, this one is on me.

@Azimuth Haha, nice! Glad you got it working.

I am really enjoying decent internet. Able to watch high quality (480/720p) twitch streams are a treat for me...this while downloading at 600-700KB/s.

Having said that, how does one go about buying more data...:) Is the 60+60gb bolt on packages the best value for money?

Presto. :)

Edit: my particular issue related to the Ubiquiti UniFi software controller for my wireless network that had fallen over. This had the effect of limiting all wireless clients to 500Kbps down and 15Kbps up. I kept getting a port error that port 8080 was being used by other software. After a few netstat observations, the solution was to shut down the Java applet and relaunch the UniFi software controller, followed by redeploying all my APs and setting behaviours. Whew, quite a learning curve here.

60GB+60GB is the cheapest, yes.

Just visit kya.8ta.com while connected to the TM network to do a topup. First you need to fund the bundle amount; there are two options explained on the portal. Once funded you can buy your bundle.

Beware using Eight Time: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=562763.

Wow, I only get 3G speeds in Benoni, but use a 4G modem, and not too bad at 10+Mbs DL. Also only pay R99 for 6GB including the modem. Thanks to MyBroadband = Telkom offer of only R99 PM for 3 + 3 + 10 GB.
Sorry if you missed this deal.

Currently I don't have an antenna connected. Full signal and these very consistent daily speeds:

Well 6 months ago I only had 2 bars signal hence the need to boost it. Now it's just academic really.

I honestly don't know. It would appear they turned up the juice, I'm not sure of the technical details behind this though.

Here's a nice summary of my consistent speeds these days on my phone via WiFi:

One thing I've noticed that I keep forgetting to mention. I haven't seen a 20ms or <30ms ping in many months. That seems to be gone. I don't know if there is a correlation between increased pings and stabilized, high speeds.

Impressive results cannot wait to join Telkom Mobile LTE family.

Does the router take a nano sim card or the standard size card?

1 more thing on the Telkom LTE coverage map on their site are you fully covered in PINK or at the EDGE.
