Telkom Mobile LTE Speedtest Results

If I use a VPN (free or otherwise) I have the same problem, but without the VPN, no problem.
 
Just got my own LTE this morning, (Did a change of ownership.) Got 4/5 bars on the Huawei b593s - 601 and I get the speeds below.

You should look into getting a B525. It's a LTE-A device and should improve your speed dramatically. The B593 is not the best option as you are unable to change bands on that router.

I will certainly look into getting one! Thanks! Very new to the LTE setups and all, so any advise is definitely welcome. =)

Yes and Telkom really pushing lte even the rate limited uncapped deals it can kill the speeds. Just 15 customers on the rate limited uncapped deal of 10Mbps already means good bye speeds at night.

Here where I stay it's a small mini Telkom tower maxing out at 100Mbps or so for the whole tower. Lucky for me surrounded by openserve fibre so nit a lot of people on the tower and it's pretty much all mine.

Hey cavedog, luck strikes only once in a blue moon.
Father Xmas brought me a Xpol-6-10M poynting antenna which made a good difference. (-88 dBm to -81 dBm)
On the 2nd Jan 2019 Telkom added a second LTE tower near here. (-81 dBm to -68 dBm) ;)
All I need now is a B618-65D as my B315 is struggling to get past 90 Mbps.
 
Is it possibe to get out of a telkom lte contract if you move out of coverage? I've heard of this from time to time, has anyone done this before?

So! I have got a B525! Speeds are sitting at anywhere between 30Mbps and 60Mbps, full signal on LTE-A without an antenna.

That is better. No if you really want to be fancy you play around with the Huawei Band tool since Telkom has 4G on B1+B3 and B40+B40

Usually B40+B40 will give better speeds because it has way more spectrum but you can play around with the band tool to really max your connection.

I will certainly look into that, thank you! I have the tool so i'll see what type of configurations it has.
 
So what I did notice while downloading on steam, I seem to get a lot of fluctuations, but I suppose this is expect from a Wireless product? (I was on Openserve fibre before I had to move.)

What are your signal stats looking like?
 
That is good to know. ^_^ I'll be moving again sadly, but I bought a portal UPS thingy for the router and I have my laptop so while I look for a place I'll test for LTE
 
I take it that the [LTE+] signifies LTE-A as mine is just [LTE] ?

The B525 router, I see there are 2 models:
B525s-23a: Bands 1/3/7/8/20/32/38
B525s-65a: Bands 1/3/4/5/7/8/20/19/26/28/32/38/40/41
1. Are they both in this country and we need to watch out for the 65a ?
2. If I got a 525s-65a, would my download speeds increase to a point that warrants the purchase of one of these routers ?

I could be wrong, like very wrong... But I believe you'd need to look for the B525s-65a.

I am uncertain if you'll get speed gains though.
