Telkom plans uncapped local bandwidth

And we still wonder why people want to leave the country?!
Because of s**t like this.

We are offering you uncapped local internet but you have to pay for what you use. That isn't uncapped you bunch of retarded imbeciles! It's the same stale vomit you are offering now and you still want to call it a gourmet meal!!!
I can get the same **** from you by buying a local account.

So from me to telscum heres a big F U and I hope you get a very nasty disease that causes you lots of pain and discomfort!

omg i just woke up....
i thought it said "free uncapped services", not local, i thought i was gonna die...
but nevermind, telkom once again delivers nothing, free local uncapped BUT blah blah blah i want to kill them

I can't understand why Telkom constantly goes AGAINST what people want, why don't they accept that they are probably the most hated company in SA... EVER.
Why can't they fix it? I hate Telkom so much!
My contract is almost up, I plan to cancel it as soon as I can.
And I plan to enjoy watching Telkom go down down down down down down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But then they are still being illegal are they not?

We can have as much international as we want aswel. We just have to pay for it. So saying you can have as much Local as you want (YOu just have to pay for it) IS NOT UNCAPPED... MORONS!?!?!?!?

Uncapped means: YOU PAY X AMOUNT FOR LOCAL A MONTH. THEN YOU CAN USE AS MUCH AS YOU WANT!!!! Not You pay for what you use...

IDIOTS MORONS LOSERS!!!! Nothing has changed then? You cold always buy as much local as you wanted with a local only account from IS or SAIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought their monopoly ended, now what they are doing is just so damn communist :(

Who really cares about uncapped LOCAL unless you are a DC++ pirate ... we just want cheaper INTERNATIONAL.

Single track mind.

If local broadband is uncapped a lot of high bandwidth services can come to SA, we can have online DVD shops (legal) and VoIP would be a reality.

Community CCTV monitoring. Local gaming servers. Local lunix mirrors. All the good stuff you hear of from overseas.

But no, telscum cares more about lining their pockets than the good of SA.

They say it's free then they say it's not then turn around and say something else again.

Ok, so if local bandwidth is free which doesn't apply to internet then how and where does it apply? How can people access and use this free local bandwidth ? if so i shouldn't be paying for my vpn connection via adsl to mweb then, should i?

Does anyone know? RPM can you find out ?

*sigh*

You know what? I often wonder... Think of all the money Telkom pays their legal department to spin this nit-picky, letter of the law crap. Think of all the money Telkom is going to make/save by requiring customers to continue to pay these exhorbitant, petty, stupid charges. I wonder if the financial gains for them really outway their legal costs, or if they're just TRYING to be as anal-retentive as possible, no matter what the cost.

Somehow I think it's the latter.

And by the way, if they remove "relaxed capping" from TelkomInternet, there goes my only reason for staying with them. They're not the cheapest ISP out there offering 2GB ADSL accounts, ya know.

Local lunix mirrors.

What's lunix?

Oh, you meant Linux... :)

Draconian measures, such as the one we are discussing now, will only alienate customers, and they'll move away to the service provider who's willing to give them what they want.

Rather, instead of alienating your customer base, why not listen to them (for a change) and have a happy (and loyal) customer base?

I predict bandwidth theft to increase should this stupid idea be enforced.

'Nough said.

When LLU happens and its bout to happen soon, convert all the frustrations into one single swift cancellation of all telscum services.

Till than smile and wave boys smile and wave.....

You guys are all FOOLS. You think Neotel is this noble company thats going to save us all. Let me fill you in. Neotel is 50% owned by Transnet... IE goverment. Neotel is Telkom number 2. It gives us the illusion of competition.

It will be like another CellC in the market, prices may come down 5-10% and cap might increase to 5 gigs, but thats it... no more. It has been said 1000 times... if you want PROPER broadband... with decent speeds and uncapped local and international you have to COMPLETELY open the market for ANYONE to provide telecoms.

Wake up! Neotel wont do sh**t for you. And telkom is merely doing what any other company with complete power will do... maximise profits. If you want to lay the blame on someone... blame the idiots in goverment.

Dont worry, be positive, our regulator will sort it all out

As predictable as a bowel movement, sigh.

our regulator is a pieace of crap. they have no power @all..
companies just do what they want..

in Sa we need regulator like that watch dogs(regulator) in the uk.Which they have true power.. when they bark companies jump and change what they do wrong or else.

if not they get fined every day, a certain % of there profits.
and tis not a small lum sum of cash. quite a high fine..

I don't think NEOTEL will come and change things. They will probably be the same as telkom and make ISP's pay for it. Its not like when Cell C entered the market it just made things better in the mobile market. I highly doubt Neotel will make any significant contribution to the current situation. Although its nice to dream.

Only way any changes will come is by breaking up Telkom itself into smaller businesses and privatizing it may be. Also ICASA rules and regulations will have to be changed significantly. If not then in this new age it will be cheaper to live in a country like Denmark, South Korea and just keep coming back to SA to visit family. Yeah..internet is so expensive here.

Lest we forget, that Telkom didnt make any difference to Local / International Traffic, there was only International Traffic. They saw more money to be made by splitting it and charging you for both, so they did that. I would like to see an end to this "Local Bandwidth" crap, There is only international, thats what you pay for. It never used to be a hassle, before someone at Telkom said "How can we make MORE money?" - ICASA needs to step up and say "Why was it changed?"

The other crap spouting goodness is also that Internet Solutions" suddenly also said that they had a Local / International bandwidth thing going. Surely, if you are on IS, you are routed differently and they can pick up whats coming in from their Tin Can attached to String in space? I think its colluding to get everyone another slice of pie.

Agree, our regulator needs to take a few lessons from Ofcom.

Also need to readdress these very vague ADSL regulations which are the source of a lot of pain and suffering (ask TommyGun who faced a grilling from Telkom at the Icasa CCC hearings yesterday :D). The amount of time and money that has been wasted on these half baked ADSL regulations boggles the mind!

Title should read Telkom plans uncapped rape of consumers....
