Telkom rewire.

The Telkom techs work on tasks per day .
They will do any thing but rewire your premises if they can get away with it .
They will just patch the line to get a clear test from the system and just walk away .
That is the nature of the beast (system )they work by .

The technician visited my house today and firstly replaced the connection where it enters the house and where the phone and modem connects, which did nothing.

Secondly he connected the modem straight where it enters the house, which did nothing but at least means the cable is still good.

Thirdly he replaced the cable going from my house to the pole, which did nothing.

Lastly he went to the MSAN and changed me to a different port and told me he would call to check if anything changed, which did nothing and after this I never saw or heard from him again.

This just leads me to believe from the pole to the MSAN somewhere something isn't right.

MSAN is a wonderful tech, but over a copper pair there only so much it can do and I think a 20 meg line and a low SNR is the best you can get at this moment. bandwidth congestion might also be a factor

next time you meet a Telkom tech ask nicely for the stats of your line connected directly to the msan port in the exchange with the subscriber side disconnected, I am sure they will be very interesting.
