Yes they said it's automatic and I just have to wait. The people that are getting theirs done, on the line checker page it says it is upgraded. Mine's still on 2mb.

Just called Telkom, Option 1 --> then Option 2, waited for about 5 minutes and a very friendly lady answered, all I asked her was the following - " Can you please do a ADSL profile reset as my line is showing 4Mbps on your website but the router only displays 2Mbps", she then told me to wait a minute and when I refreshed my router page it was "4Mbps".

You should have gotten her full contact details. I need that person. With my luck I will get downgraded if I call :D

PS, what the hell does this mean?

ADSL Availability
Service Available
Maximum speed available in your area: 4 Mbps
Your Current Service speed: 10 Mbps

LOL, just keep on trying, she also said that she may not actually do it for me since they were told not too, but if I insist they must do it since I am paying for the service and I am the client, after that she bumped up the speed, so if you insist they must do it.

All you guys upgrading to 4mbps, are you sure that your bill will be the new R299.

I was told by telkom that if I upgrade my line to 4mbps I will be charged R425 and then be upgraded to 10mbps later.

Telkom, eish....

Yes, because they have not done your free upgrade yet; I was told the same.

If they manually bump you up without the process then they will charge you. Your line has to reflect the changes on the ADSL checker website first.

Guess I am also one of the lucky ones. :D

Got my upgrade!

Key here is to get a lady it seems.. I called first time doing the same thing and got a guy, said I should wait till the end of the week for the upgrades to be finished... Called again 2 min afterwards and got a very friendly lady (name was Prudence). Asked for my land-line number and bam, 4mb! :D

edit: I was listed as 4mb on ADSL checker website as well.

Phoned them as well and requested a profile reset, lady (Promise?) said they received an email saying they shouldn't do profile resets while the speed upgrades are in progress because it will "slow down the connection speed".

Go figure.

around R300 but I think there may be a few surprises for everyone upgrading to 4mbps

Meh... I usually just go and make a scene at the Telkom Shop when they ****up my bill and then they fix it, they know my face already.

I doubt it. Think about it, you ask to be bumped to 4mb and your router syncs at 4mb. If indeed they were upgrading the people to 10mb, it would have synced at the new 10mb profile and not 4mb
