Telkom Speed upgrades

I got upgraded to 2meg but still syncing at 1meg even after a port reset.

I am also on 2Mbps, but still syncing at 1Mbps.

How long does the "natural" port reset take?

I have been checking the adsl speed checker regularly the whole week and I am also suddenly on 2Mbps. My line is also still syncing at 1Mbps.

Maybe we should first verify that there is someone who is still on 1Mbps on the speed checker before we all start celebrating

There are people in this thread stating they are also syncing at 2Mbps. Therefore I assume Telkom has performed the first step for all in moving over to 2Mbps. Now it is just a matter of a profile/port reset.

I think you're right I just checked my afrihost checker and in the on place it says I am 2Mbps but when I test/tweak my line it says 1Mbps.

Will try phone them tomorrow.

Connection just keeps dropping every now and then. I'm getting real tired of your ****, Telkom...

P.S: TelkomZA replied to my query, and answered all my questions. Thumbs up!

Update: Checker says I'm on 10Mbps, but my max allowed speed at the exchange is 4Mbps. I'm synced at 6Mbps (when it's ****ing connected!) - that'll do, pig. That'll do.

If you syncing lower than your upgraded line speed I think your ISP is holding you back with the data package you on, unless you with Telkom.

I am exclusively with Telkom for everything.

Well, TelkomZA did say that early to mid-December they're upgrading 2mb customers to 4mb and Jan/Feb they're upgrading 1MB customers.

It's rather clear that they are proceeding faster than expected.

Phone Telkom and ask them to do a port reset. You will then sync at 2Mbps.

I phoned TElkom and asked them to do a port reset. They did and I was still syncing at 1Mbps.

Phoned again and asked them to check on my profile what my line speed is. They said 1Mbps. I told them the line checker website says 2Mbps and that 1Mbps is upgraded to 2 so they changed me to 2Mbps.

Tested it and I am now syncing at 2Mbps.

Happily bumped to 2 Mbps - called Telkom, was assisted by a very friendly lady and with a click or 2 she delivered a early Xmas pressie!

Must say Telkoms client service is becoming impressive!
