Telkom Speed upgrades

I thought the 1Mb/s upgrades are only gonna happen in Jan 2014 due to the freeze?

Supposedly only to happen January 2014 – February 2014 and according to some other info regions were also listed with the west being last.
 
My only question is why do we have to call in to conclude the free upgrade?

I called in and stated that the ADSL checker is now showing 2Mbps for my line and the consultant put me on hold to confirm that I have been upgraded. Once that was done I was requested to turn my modem off so a profile update could be done.

Is the modem being off a critical factor in this?

Telkom beating their own deadlines.

I'm loving Telkom at the moment. :love:

They've come a fer way in the recent past.
 
Telkom upgrading 1Mb/s already - This is great news!

ADSL Checker is showing 2Mb/s for me, but I'm still synching at 1Mb/s
 
So I've been upgraded from 2Mbps to 4Mbps.
The online checker says that my exchange only supports upto 4Mbps.
Based on my router stats below, any chance I might be able to go upto 10Mbps? I am ± 2.2km from exchange.
How good are my stats?

I hope the exchanges can handle the upgrades >.< congestion FTL

Doing this worked for me :), yesterday I just asked for a port reset, that did not work.

Just called, and Buthle was actually quite abrupt with me lol. I've been upgraded to 10Mbps and syncing at 6Mbps. I asked her why it's only syncing at that speed if it's been upgraded.

Her: "What would you like it to sync at?"

Me: "10Mbps?"

Her: "I already TOLD you they'll only be finished on 1 December".

I'll call back tomorrow and speak to Thabo :p
 
Telkom ADSL checker shows my line speed has been upgraded. Called them and was told they have been instructed NOT to re-synch clients to higher speeds until the update process is completed :(

phone them first thing tomorrow morning when different staff are on duty. I think the weekend staff got sick of getting all these upgrade calls.
 
I am surprised that some staff are doing it while others are not...
