Telkom Speed upgrades

The staff member probably got confused and thought you were upgrading your line and then they would be correct you cannot upgrade it until the automatic upgrades are complete otherwise they won't know what to charge whom.

You need to update your profile to the correct speed of 2Mbps. (to match the adsl speed checker)

So what are they gonna if you call 10210 accounts section and ask to be upgraded to 2Mb/s, they can't bill you for it...?

Adsl checker says im on 2mb but router still synching at 1mb..the guy said the techies are still busy in my area thats y..

Upgrades are frozen as far as I understand at least where the lines are managed by ISPs. So if I want to upgrade from 2Mbps to 10Mbps I can't until the automatic upgrades are completed e.g. My line gets managed by Afrihost and in the Afrihost web clientzone l clicked on change packageto see if I could upgrade it but I got a message that upgrades has been frozen by Telkom. Holy mog I have been upgraded to 2megs!

Kudos to Telkom!

Was also able to upgrade my Afrihost account to 2 megs uncapped via ClientZone. So kudos to AH as well!

Hi

Did they do it automaticaly or did you phone in.

On telkom line checker it says my dsl in my area is max 1meg, and my current speed is 2meg. But my line is still syncing at 1meg.

So what does it mean im stuck on 1megs cause it say my areas max speed is 1meg ?

My 2 Mb/sec was upgraded to 4 Mb/sec a while ago.

But although I achieve ~ 3.3Mb/sec download now, my upload speeds have remained almost identical to the upload speed prior to the upgrade.

Upload is a fairly constant 0.4 to 0.42 Mb/sec, which is identical to the upload speeds I averaged when on the previous 2Mb/sec Telkom ISP ADSL line.

Is it only the download speeds that Telkom has upgraded?

2Mb and 4Mb lines have the same upload speed, 512Kbps. Only from 10Mb does it jump to 1024Kbps.

this is brilliant news :D:D:D:D:D:D
Just checked and my line on Telkom's checker is now 2Mbps.

Do I just call Telkom and ask for a port reset?

ADSL checker showing that I am now on 2Mb/s, but modem is synching at 1Mb/s.

Do we call 10210 and request a profile update?

Lekker! Just checked mine- 2meg!

I'll have to check what the router reports when I get home. Is there any chance it auto-updates? Or is a manual profile reset mandatory?

I'm not sure but judging from what is being said in this thread, I think you have to have a profile reset! Is it critical that your router is off whilst performing a profile reset? ( I'm at work)

Now here I am showing my ignorance.... how do you check?

Sorry to ask such a stupid questions, but you do need people like me around too!

:p
