Telkom Speed Upgrades

Any news yet on when the upgrades to Cape Town's Northern Suburbs will take place?

Notice board (Notice Board) doesn't state anything specific to my neighborhood or suburb.

The noticeboard is at over 80 planned maintenance entries, but nobody has actually seen an upgrade yet.

As I've stated numerously throughout this forum - from numerous discussions with Telkom, the line speed increases only apply to existing Telkom ADSL users on existing and legacy do Uncapped packages (so therefore line PLUS ISP). The pricing on these is currently on a par with the pricing of the newer UnlimitedHome packages at the next speed level. So if you're on a 4Mbps Do Uncapped package you're paying in the region of R799 pm. The 8mbps UnlimitedHome package is R799 pm so therefore Telkom will be migrating the aforementioned people to the new packages at the higher speed but these people will in essence be paying the same as they were but getting the increased speed as a benefit. There's a huge misconception that everybody on a Telkom line will be getting free speed increases mahala across the board which is most definitely not the case.

This is exactly what I'm waiting for. Already have the 4mb line and paying R799pm. Just want to get a confirmed date as to when the speed transfer will happen. First it was end of the month (August) and now it's somewhere in the middle of this month (September).

Understood (my fault for not going back through the entire thread).

Have you tried expediting through @TelkomZA? They pushed and I was sorted within a matter of days.

Whoa really!? :O Been waiting well over a week now

Tweeted @TelkomZA as suggested above. They replied that upgrades will be taking place from 31/8/17 over a two month period

Nice! The last time they took that long with upgrades it was across the board.

I sent Telkom a tweet and was told " Upgrades are for unlimited contract customers. " Does that mean normal monthly uncapped customers don't apply?

Edit: Telkom confirmed that only contract users get the upgrade, oh wells

I'm patiently waiting for this upgrade, my uncapped 2mbps is bothering me with downloads that are 10GB and upwards.

You can call them and get your upgrade to 4mbps activated now. You'll also get the free Telkom to Telkom calls and 1gb mobile data.

I have stopped wandering and phoned them yesterday. "you have to apply for a migrate, Sir". So I applied. Did it over the phone. Very friendly lady.
But, does not matter what beesboertjie is saying, Telkom is still a sh*t company and have us by the b*lls. :D:wtf:

What package are you on currently? And is there a price change with the migration?

I am and still is on a 4 MB/s uncapped line. Asked for upgrade but lines cannot handle anything faster than 4.
So I asked why I am paying around R750 monthly and neighbour only R599 for "same" line. etc.
Answer - he phoned and was put on the "new" unlimited uncapped whatever. Only difference I had to pay extra for free calls Telkom to Telkom ( Telkom Anytime Extra and Close Call Catcher) and neighbours are all included. So I aked for a migrate.
Hopefully that has now been rectified.
This from one of the top performing companies on the JSE.
Amazing this country that we live in.
But, I am on pension and life would have been so boring without all this shannanigans.
Hopefully I am going to save around R150 pm - but line speed is down today!!!!!!!
