"bundle discounted voice telephony products with its broadband solutions"

Interesting !

We will wait and see what that is.....

lets first wait to see how much its coming down, before we get to far ahead of....

Anyway holding thumbs its at least R50 , it will save R600 a year.. better than a poke in the eye with a blunt stick

I hope they bring it down alot. I wonder how the unbundling of the local loop, Telkoms so-called tripple play and the introduction of the SNO will affect the price cuts?? Only time will tell. Telkom will just **** the customer again in believing its a "better" price cut, like the ADSL 'pay-per-gig' in November last year.

Telkom drops prices..... LOL

Next headline will be:

Police have lead in Five Pillar Theft – They believe that it has something to do with pigs that appear to be able to fly – In reply to the loss of the Pillars, it was discounted by many as they were crumbling anyway

It is not complex folks , but it has taken telkom soooo long to finally understand what we have been saying for sooo long . "The more you drop the prices , the more people will join" , seem like finally they understand a small and vital concept .

Even though they have bypassed our way of thinking to get " more customers means we make more money " we just have to understand we takes us five minutes to understand takes 5 years to explain it to telkom .

perhaps, but from a sales perspective, would you rather sell 1000 apples at R10 each, or 10000 apples at R1 each profit? anybody with a brain would go for 1000 at 10 as its just so much less work for more money.

Well I ordered ADSL192 from Telkom 2 days ago, so it SHOULD be at least another 6 months before they install it anyways!!

thats IF and only IF they dont cancel your order at 5 months :)

Yes but if you have 10,000 people buying your apples you can offer them other fruit too.. so with 10,000 apply buyers you offer the apple at R3 instead of R5 you will make R30,000 instead of R5,000 - and you can offer those extra 9,000 customers other things like bananas or pears or whatever else is on the shelf - more money for slightly more effort.

This is why operators are diversifying and starting to lower prices, get a larger captive audience and start offering things like IPTV, video on demand etc etc. One cannot sustain apple sales in a market where apples are getting bigger and costing less, because people will always buy larger, cheaper apples from someone else.

The more customers you have the more potential you have to sell stuff to them. And the more they can save on price the more they can spend on your other services, give or take.

Business Ec never even taught me that, just good old common sense :)

true true but in telkoms case if you are the only one selling big red apples then its a matter of, make 1000 apples, sell 1000 apples, whether its at 50c each or R5 each.

anybody have any idea when "later this month" is? like later in march as in march 2006 or 2007?

It's enough to put one off apples altogether :D

They will probably announce price cuts when they think that they've damaged IS's reputation enough and can steal a big enough chunk of their customers while they make their ADSL service suck.. April probably would be a fair guess..

waiting for a day when the monopolistic beast doesn't look quite as bad.

ja look if you are right i will wait forever for a price reduction. i mean will it ever look better than bad?

Which is partially my point - how many price reductions have there been since the last price increase on 2005-11-01? - none - bcos Telkodemonopolies has been looking bad ever since 2005-11-01 :D.

PS: In reality there haven't been any price reductions bcos Telkodemonopolies is maximising its profit before the potential effects of competition hit - in other words I was joking about the waiting to look not as bad :).

well as i would only like a price increase if it comes down to i can have faster line for same price as 512k now, otherwise i wont see benefits as i dont pay my adsl account

hrm 2nd last week of the month.. any news of the proposed changes to cost ?

(I'm duping a post to another thread but . .) I feel they should abolish the 192 and 384 (IMO they're an affront to the term broadband). Then they should lower the cost of the 512 down to at least the level of 192 and introduce a 2mbs service.

I need to be able to remove my backlog on Easynews, I've got 57 GB allocation that has to come down over the next few months.

I'll help :)

Is this a backlog due to telkom capping? Having unlimited http downloads is the sole redeeming feature of a uunet account. :)
