Telkom users hit by throttling issues

Telkom Internet uncapped customers have complained about being throttled unfairly due to incorrect Fair Usage Policy (FUP) implementation.

A number of customers reached out to MyBroadband and voiced their frustration as they claimed their real usage did not align with what Telkom shows on its online customer portal.

I moved from Afrihost, who was brilliant before...to Telkom. I had less issues and the issue's were fixed quick. Maybe i was lucky.

They need to refund everyone affected by this, which is basically everyone.

I would keep quite about this, it's not the norm.
My friends and colleagues were on Afrihost and had endless issues. I advised them to join Telkom and they never complained ever since besides the cable theft incidents the had when they were still on DSL...

I enjoy using an ISP that doesn't even tell you how much data you've used, since its truly uncapped and therefore doesn't matter.

Yep, it doesn't matter, till you get throttled, your exchange is congested, your ping goes to hell on a skate board, you cannot stream 720, never mind 1080, you cannot play games, but paradoxically, you can torrent at full speed, awfully useful, really awesome.

I don't want to torrent or download, I want to stream my series, movies, whatever on Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube or whatever - 1080, not having a 4K device for viewing. And play an hour or two of Guild Wars 2, without rubber banding, or just being unable to move for 30 seconds - their LTE is not much better, just costs multiple times more.

No fiber in site, before Xmas, they where phoning me to move my copper ADSL to a crippled LTE offering - this year, nada nothing - did their people roll over and die, of too much Xmas pudding?

My line has gone to the Dogs, currently assisted by the international cable break, but yeah, this is Telkom ...

Telkom needs to upgrade their servers to prevent throttling and slow speeds

Telkom is clueless as to what it needs, and all sections seem to be doing what they think is required to go forward with little or no planning or co-ordination between departments.

Never understood why anyone would use Telkom as their ADSL/Fibre ISP when there are so many other options.
When you live in the sticks, there are not a lot of options . Wireless SP's know this and scalp.

NO surprise here, they have been throttling bandwidth for ages, not just because of bogus FUP but also due to oversubscription on their LTE service.

No surprise ... , the only difference in internet experience here between Telkom ADSL and LTE, is the higher average download speed, on LTE, otherwise web pages, open at the same speed, waiting ages for Google Analytics ... , same long buffering times for videos, etc ...
