TelkomInternet - Capped Users for May 2007

This sucks! I really thought I would stay with Telkom due to their relaxed capping policy. Now it has changed once again. I also got capped on my 2gb the very first day after my first disconnect. I couldn't believe it. So I don't care about the fact that there are 2 Telkom reps on this forum. Stay the hell a way from me. You will get no positive comments from me at this stage. I am really sick of this ****e. Sounds to me like Telkom appointed to wise asses to deal with complaints and queries on this forum. I don't like wise asses. Ranger you need to keep your snotty comments like "But the beer flows for free at Firkin?" to yourself boet.

NEOTEL WHERE ARE YOU??? You need to come and save us from the devil.

Comical. I am not here to deal with complaints or to listen to people bitchin because they pay for 2Gb and now cant get 20Gb+. My presence here is for assistance purposes only. I am here to help anyone that wants to know / understand something relating to their Telkom Internet Access.
btw, you were capped at 4Gb...

I think the "bitchin" is closer to the idea of, "We (or at least I) pay in excess of R1200 a month for 2GB (and 3GB) and don't get 20GB out of it" ;)

Take it as you like.

Hey ...

Crack open the tap.... Jissis.

I want at least 180 Gigs!!

If you cut off my streaming vids at the crucial moment .... I'll crack...especially if they start buffering or I first have to go get my credit card...AG NO MAN TELSKOMMEL....hehehehe

ROFLMAO AT TELSKOMMEL CHILDISH CAPPING POLICY

And no I'm prepared to pay for intl streaming vids, so P2P isn't my problem

TELSKOMMELINTERWEB MAAK MY NAAR

Can anyone confirm that their connections have just died while being online, or terminated as you hit the 6GB mark?

Indeed.

@Telkom reps, you can't seriously think that you would come on here and not get some kind of abuse?

Clearly, your presence and information are both welcome, but don't expect praise for Telkom. They do not deserve any.

Maybe they're happy to take the hit to increase market share?

Show me another business arena where users are allowed to use as much of a resource that costs the provider money as they can.

Does Vodacom give you unlimited on-peak airtime ? Does BP let you fill up as much as you like for a once-off fee (heck, they don't even trust you to fill up yourself like most countries do).? Is Mugg&Bean happy for you to drink one bottomless cup all day?

But the beer flows for free at Firkin?

In your analogy, you are using a resource that doens't cost anything to provide. Get a quote for 1 100mbps ATM (or IP if you're lucky enough) with unlimited use, and then think if your analogy is accurate (or, if your herd can't drink the polluted water, and someone has to pay to purify it etc.).

SAIX tried this. ISPs abused it. SAIX could not recover their costs. SAIX told ISPs to pay for all their own usage (and do what they like with their customers).

In a society where people willingly waste resources just because they can, what else can be expected?

Right, so how would the ISP pay SAIX for the un-accounted-for 26GB of usage?

It doesn't seem Telkom can take responsibility for that. See what google says about "bandwidth abuse".

web and web2.0 are :p.

I could say I don't see the need for taxes, thus I should not have to pay as much tax as everyone else. However, I am sure SARS won't agree with me, and I am sure you pay more tax than access costs ...

Now, debating whether there should be capping or not will not lead us anywhere. Debating how it should be done will be done by other people. Ensuring that it is working correctly, and possibly providing some means of feedback to those that decide how to cap *is* possible, let's try and concentrate on what we can improve, rather than the issues that irritate us all but that no-one here can do anything about.
That is about all I agree with.

I have 2GB Telkom and last month, at just over 4GB, it went dead. I was playing FEAR combat. :D I hope this 4GB thing continues. Maybe I'll even switch to 3GB. TelkomInternet is the best ISP - way cool! :D

If you were hitting over 20GB, you're the kind of user we want to have re-assess how they use the internet.

That comment my friend is plain arrogance, you would dictate to users how to spend their time online? It's that simple and idiotic train of thought that holds our country at ransom.

I personally would use in the average of 10GB's a month, which I cannot afford. So the sad truth is Telkom do dictate what the average user should do; with the scraps they are given.

can you confirm this wasn't a DSL reset?

I'd like 2 add something.

Look what vodacom3g (vodacom rep) has done for us (the forum peeps) - he took in our suggestions...spoke to the relevant people - and whala - things are happening...

Without his presence, patience and feedback to Vodacom/us - nothing would have happened....now how about you guys attempt the same?

My 2cents :)

I personally think the Vodacom rep has way more power, and the team working behind the scenes he reports back to is way more useful than that of Telkoms.

56kMan, the 24 hour resets on the accounts that usually occur. If the 24 hour reset took place, and you were in the middle of the game, that would make sense it just died.

If it just died and you were only on line for like 2 hours then it means they capping in real time.

It died only a couple of hours after I connected.

I can confirm there was no real time capping 28th of last month.. so??

I will be interested to see how many people stick with TelkomISP once they officially start hard-capping everyone at 2/3GB.

hj2k_x - i wonder ?
well if they want to keep as many customers as possible they wont hard cap at the limit.but as soon as they do im going straight to whoever.il have to do research on the the best isps etc.but i can see myself staying with telkom for ages...AS long as they allow me 2 do double of what im paying for ;)
