And the list of defectors grows. I am loving this.
cool zamrg. My perception about bandwidth is that if bandwidth was cheap and say 30GB accounts were the standard, even the "abusers" would stop being abusers. I think that if bandwidth was cheap you wouldn't even mind not using half of it. But when it's expensive you make sure the last drop is milked and then some if possible.
PM me your username and I will see why you were capped. If you have a 3Gb account this month, you would have been capped at 6Gb.
wow, I'm really confused at all you ungrateful sods
you, like the rest of us are paying for a specific amount of gb, and you now complain because you aren't getting those extra 20 - 30 gb that you previously weren't paying for? The rest of us users who have been using ISP's other than Telkom Internet have been living in this world for quite some time now.
With regard to the message posted by the Telkom Internet rep that 3 gb accounts will seize at 6gb this month, it could very well be a problem on Telkom Internet's side.
You guys continue to bitch on this forum and complain about a mere concept called economics, and that is... Telkom is a monopoly and they therefore charge the maximum price that they can. Telkom Internet also seems to be transforming into a monopolistic organisation based on these special deals, shared capping pools and extra bandwidth and the recent introduction of the Do Broadband packages which other ISP's don't seem to have access to. They're building barriers to entry which in essence, are preventing other ISP's from competing or making even an adequate profit margin.
As much as I hate the idea of Telkom being a monopoly, and hate the idea that Telkom Internet have special treatment, that doesn't change the concept that you get what you pay for. If you want 20 gb, pay for a 20 gb account or dig deep into your wallet for uncapped; but don't complain because you aren't getting subsidised bandwidth anymore.
Yes, your stance is clearly the answer to the telecommunitcations problems in this country: bend over and take it.
How could we have been so stupid as to want to try and effect some sort of positive change?![]()

I am in no way agreeing with how Telkom operates, and I too am paying out of my ass for a simple broadband package. You ridicule me just because I have an opposing view on the "get what you pay for" concept, and based on that you generalise and tell me "bend over and take it". You clearly have a great immature insight in how the world operates, fool.
The forum is about people, both pro and against the local broadband situation who are here to express their views. I too am against this monopolistic situation, however just because I oppose one of your mindless views, you bring me down to a Telkom lover?
How is your comment brilliantly put? You seem to be so hooked in to the Telkom bashing that you can't separate an legitimate operation from an illegitimate one. Do you not see this by now, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, regardless of how much we actually pay for broadband here, you're paying for 3gb, so stop bitching because you can't leech 30gb anymore.
