The problem is it now takes them 2 days to reply on twitter, where previously i got a reply within an hour, this was when Charl was around though, and used to get a technician come the next day. So no idea what's happened, it seems escalating a fault makes 0 difference now. If it takes a week of pretty much harrassing everybody and you still havn't got your fault even looked at, then what is the point.

I would like to say: Thank you! @Telkom_ZA

For the first time my telkom line is stable! It still runs with CRC errors but it does not disconnect every couple of minutes. I have seen uptimes of more than 24hours.

I must say it was really frustrating with technicians just closing the call every time. Since sending Telkom_ZA a PM got the issue escallated and I actually have a stable line after 2 weeks and 2 logged calls. Thank you!!!

I've escalated to the tech and his manager to resolve before close of busiess today.
Will progress 10:30am.

Kind regards

8 days and counting with no service. Apparently my call was escalated to management, Doesn't seem to make a difference. Generally a technician has come the day after my fault has been escalated. 2 escalations later and still nothing.

Something is definitely off at telkom, last time a logged a call the tech was there the next morning. He found the fault at the pole next to my house within 15minutes. Now after two faults logged and also 8 days ive had the faults closed twice without actual contact with the tech.

How do i find out which technician closed the faults so I can lay a complaint?

Downstream Upstream

Line Attenuation: 55.0 31.5 db
Data Rate: 800 448 kbps
Max Rate: 960 552 kbps

Yup, same thing. The pole next door has been the problem every few months. I doubt telkom would allow the public to see who closed the call, if anything ever got done about the inbeciles that work there they would have no employees.

My next door neighbor's line is syncing at 8mb:sick: and he is only 20m from my house.

Please help !!

hi @telkomza @ti_ranger really need some help getting my adsl sorted. I logged a call, done a dozen port recreates, emailed support, but nobody can help me get my adsl line sorted. My isp is Telkom internet and my line no is on the 021851xxxx range

It started about 3 weeks ago, that my adsl line became very very slow, max about 20kb/s download speed on my 2meg line. When I did traceroutes the second hop was at 1500ms already.

It is now a few weeks later and the tracert looks better, but im still not getting any speed. Websites are slow to load. It seems to be slower during the evenings.

I cant do a speed test because my flash player download fails at the current download speeds, 7kb/s.

I tried the following already.

tested with only 1 computer on the network(with diffrent pc's)
did port recreates
tested with other isp's
removed pots filter
swopped phone line to router
tested with another router

Any more ideas on what to test?

here is a current line sync stats

Have you tried the traceroute with an other account, like the AH free 1 GB account?
It does look if your exchange might be congested. Testing with an other account will rule out your current ISP as the possible problem.

I would like to thank TelkomZA for getting my issue resolved. A technician was at my house the whole of Saturday afternoon and first thing Sunday morning. Line SNRM 13.5(will probably be higher once everything dries out.) , Line Attenuation 44, Data rate 4mb, Max Rate 7mb

Speed and exhange line check - assistance please

Please may I ask for assistance or advice in checking my exchange and line speeds - my line 011477**** I've supposedly been moved to Newlands 3 near Northcliff ext where I live, with a new port. However, speeds have not improved and I'm lucky if I get 1mbps dl speeds on a 4mbps line (10mbps able).

I've run speedtests, telkom dummy accounts and don't know what not, but nothing is helping. Last mobile (over wifi admittedly) speedtest had a ping in excess of 300ms and 0.20 download. It's so slow google mail advises I'm on a too slow connection and I should go to basic.
Is it the infrastructure in Northclff ext and surrounding area? If so, will upgrades be taking place anytime soon?
My provided is WebAfrica. thanks

Right, so after phoning 10210 yesterday we actually got a technician to come today and fixed our line, this time corrosion on another pole, this means i have double chance of the same crap happening in a few months time. It turns out our fault wasn't even sent to the repair devision for 2 weeks, it was just sititng at the call centre or however their stupid setup works. So i guess that means TelkomZA on twitter who apparently escalated twice lied?
