Right, so after phoning 10210 yesterday we actually got a technician to come today and fixed our line, this time corrosion on another pole, this means i have double chance of the same crap happening in a few months time. It turns out our fault wasn't even sent to the repair devision for 2 weeks, it was just sititng at the call centre or however their stupid setup works. So i guess that means TelkomZA on twitter who apparently escalated twice lied?
Yes, this happens.

So he wasn't lying? Surely they can see when they escalate that the call hasn't even been sent to the right division?

Hi telkomza. Apparently there is a fault with number telkom have allocated me for a new line installation. What steps do I take to sort this out?

Hi Telkomza. My appointment was booked for today on the 12th. No technician has phoned me. Apparently there is no booking for today according to 10210 yes I have the SMS. What's going on? A response would greatly be appreciated.

Hi TelkomZA. When I applied for my ADSL line, I was quoted R643/month. Nowhere in any conversation was it mentioned that the price quoted was VAT excluding, not even in the T&Cs. Why would you guys do that? I thought that, if VAT was not included, it had to be explicitly mentioned.

Also had problems this morning. Kept on getting time out errors.

Tried just now and once again timed out. No connection to server. Other mailboxes work just fine.

PS: Somerset West area.

How am I supposed to get a Telkom line installed, if you can't even give a time of installation and don't do weekend installation. Basically have to take off work so you can come to my house, do absolutely sweet f#*@ all (I mean the line is there and was used before) but oh no lets send a technician out to have a good long look at it, because f$%^ that's a pretty looking f*&#&# line. I mean at least offer a weekend service for a slightly higher fee (What you paying your employees 1.5 times, or wait maybe we could have employees working Tuesday through Sat and then you don't even have to pay them overtime.)

Not really looking for anything just other than to vent, since I couldn't vent at the person I was speaking to, since they can do sweet f$%# all about your ridiculous inability to give a vaguely accurate installation time.

I'm still waiting. Telkom canceled my installation and didn't bother telling me. I been was no since Feb. The line is also in my house. Useless government run company. What do you expect when the dumb @ss running our country takes all the bucks for his house.

hi @telkomza @ti_ranger really need some help getting my adsl sorted. I logged a call, done a dozen port recreates, emailed support, but nobody can help me get my adsl line sorted. My isp is Telkom internet and my line no is on the 021851xxxx range

It started about 3 weeks ago, that my adsl line became very very slow, max about 20kb/s download speed on my 2meg line. When I did traceroutes the second hop was at 1500ms already.

It is now a few weeks later and the tracert looks better, but im still not getting any speed. Websites are slow to load. It seems to be slower during the evenings.

I cant do a speed test because my flash player download fails at the current download speeds, 7kb/s.

I tried the following already.

tested with only 1 computer on the network(with diffrent pc's)
did port recreates
tested with other isp's
removed pots filter
swopped phone line to router
tested with another router

Any more ideas on what to test?

Hi,

I had the same issues as yours, had it happen today again. Internet became unusable (4Mbps line). All I did (its a schlep) is re input my username and password via the setup wizard, let the modem (Dlink) reboot and bobs your uncle.

Maybe this helps you?

Came here to sing praise as well. After 3.5 months of congestion trouble, and back and forth between ISP and Telkom, all is finally well with my connection! Charl took 1 day to sort the problem out. Well done.

Hi there,

Has anyone seen this before? Is it line, router or ISP related? All seem to be ok (according to the various service providers) so I'm stumped. Line has been down the whole day...

I have been struggling with high latency issues since a week before the 3rd of March 2014.

It keeps jumping up and down from 100-> 2000(should be 10-40ms)

More than 3 weeks later i still have the same issue... Which i have had before twice last year.

It usually starts in the early evenings. My ISP is mweb and have already done testing and confirmed that i am a sufferer of congestion. The service I am getting from Telkom however to solve the problem is really poor and EXTREMELY slow.
I have phoned and phoned been put on hold. Made a fault, EVENTUALLY. Most of the people i spoke to did not know what congestion or latency was. Finally one person phoned me back and said my problem will be fixed within 48 hours. 2 weeks later... Nothing.

It is not just in the evenings now but during the day as well 24/7. up to 3000 PING WHERE IT SHOULD BE 10?

I barely download, and i do competitive gaming. Hello telkom DGL?
If this problem is not resolved by Wednesday i would like to be reimbursed.
Would like to talk to a Manager / superior.

Also - my colleague who lives like two to three houses away from me has no problems at all. Same line speed etc.

I have tested multiple modems and ISPs. All the same. Also apparently my line attuention etc is perfect...
