This is using Telkom ISP capped account which is becoming useless, will need to switch ISP's ASAP

I've bought a capped account from Afrihost, so far I've had no issues with it, I might be cancelling with Telkom unless they can do something about this congestion...

I have tested and am receiving great speeds through a capped Web Africa account. What is the easiest way of cancelling?

Hi all,

@TelkomZA (you can reply too)

I have a business who wants to apply for a special number, something like 082911 or 084124 type deal - how / whom does one talk to? I want to get this information for a friend of mine and he is desperate to get it done ASAP.

Hello everyone. I having quite a bit of a problem. My ADSL is set at 10mbps yet I am getting sub 2mbps speeds for the past 2-3 weeks continuously. I have logged faults with telkom and I have requested call outs at least 5 times to no success. I called the call center again and after resetting my port 3 times, the speed would not kick up. Worst of all, my phone is dead. To check if there was a config prob I logged into the router only to find:

Mode: ADSL_2plus
Type: ATM
Status: Up

Downstream Upstream
Line Coding(Trellis): On On
SNR Margin (dB): 78 61
Attenuation (dB): 460 311
Output Power (dBm): 185 122
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 1888 1031
Rate (Kbps): 1403 1023
D (interleaver depth): 1 1
Delay (msec): 0.24 0.24

HEC Errors: 0 0
OCD Errors: 0 0
LCD Errors: 0 0

Total ES: 1 0

1888 kbps when im supposed to be getting 10 240 Kbps .Browsing is not enjoyable and I have 76kB/s downloads for drivers and patches. I live in Bryanston. Phone number 011 463 60xx. Please help!

This took about 2 minutes,
It stops halfway for about a minute, and then continues
Don`t know it means anything

They don't really answer in the open Forum. You need to sent PM. I sent a PM last week and turn around time was about 12 hours if I recall correctly, but the PM was definatly answered.

@TelkomZA

I moved into a new house in Sandton. 3 weeks ago, I requested that the line and adsl be moved from my old house to my new house. I have not recieved any communication from Telkom in this time. I called them today to get a status update. The operator ( after being on hold over 30min) says there are no available adsl ports on the exchange ???? How does this work ? The person that moved out had a line and adsl ? I find it ridiculous !!!!

@ TelkomZA

I have been told that a technician has been book twice already. one on Thursday @ 4:30 and the other on Sat @ 12:30. NONE have yet pitched to my household. I have also been told that supervisors are monitoring my case yet no one has called to follow up on my issues. Telkom, please, I'm getting no hope here. have been a customer since 2005 and although service was not the best then, It never deteriorated to this level. I fear that the people working in my district don't care about their work. my phone line is still dead and my ADSL speed has now decreased to 1mbps. Over half the month with no telephone line and internet operating at 1/10 of its proper speed (supposed to be a 10mbps internet connection).Its not fair that I have to pay the full monthly fee. The technicians visited the exchange last Saturday (as I was told) and found no problems. i have been calling every day for the past 2 weeks to no avail. Help me please! Phone number 01146360XX. Reference No: *1447CRK030414. Message me for address details

My line went down yesterday at around 17:00. After perusing the forums (and Afrihost's website), it appears to have been an authentication issue of sorts with the MTN backbone. Anyway, various forumites reported that their connection was back up (but not mine). So I called Telkom to ask them to check my line. The lady who I spoke to told me that they were experiencing nationwide connectivity issues and that their techs were looking into the problem. I wanted to point out that this didn't sound right as plenty WEREN'T experiencing issues, but since it was after 20:00, I'd already been on hold for over half an hour and was losing the will to live, I decided to just let it go.

Can TelkomZA please confirm if there are any issues we should be aware of? Also, why don't they have a network status page on their website where they can post news of real time outages?
