@TelkomZA ... Would like assistance concerning an ADSL that was ordered last year and still has not been delivered.
Background:- (TL;DR)
August 2012, I placed an order for ADSL, only to be told that the following month I can expect delivery.
Next month came, phoned Telkom and they advised there was no infrastructure supported in the Area. (BTW I am just across the Road from that Data centre being built in Midrand)
So I gave up on all hope (kept my order opened) , got myself IBurst and 2 8ta sim cards.(I’m paying a complete fortune TBH)
This year, during our body corporate meeting, many tried to get ADSL , however received the same response.
In May 2013, there was wind that the body corporate got some feedback from telkom. What telkom required was a trace wire to each apartment and a Telkom box installed next to each block unit. This was completed during may.
Now sometime over this month, I get a call from Telkom offering me do simple plan, which I went for, a few days go by and I just get spam messages non stop about services telkom has offered (I.e. Email services, then some messages about contact enquiry desk and one about the cloud storage service they offer).
Another week goes by and once again we cannot offer you service, dates change again.Honestly feel like I am being lied to, so Telkom can gather my personal infrormation and sell it to other companies.
Questions:-
1.Why try to get a customer to place another order, when they are aware that the original order is still open?
2.What bothered me about this all, First Telkom BAIT's me into thinking that the reason I am receiving these messages is due to actually getting ADSL. Can Telkom rather activate the services once I confirm my order rather?
3.Can a customer actually pay a installation fee to speed up installation process (I cannot believe there is no infrustructure since a new business got built up across the road and they not using WiMax, so they must have somehow got some means of getting a fixed line)?
4.One thing I noticed, If Telkom cannot offer people service delivery, they hand over personal information over to 8ta to contact the client to offer 3G. Can Telkom rather look on their system and see they have already done this the first time around? It was upsetting to have a call center offer me another 3G device (After I made it clear that I already own 2), after I made it clear that I was paying +/- R1000 for internet currently and cannot afford more? The upsetting part was how pushy
5. What can I actually do about getting a fixed line? I am not permitted to run WiMax (complex rules), 3G gives me 3000 ms ping when playing games, Iburst is just terribly, there really is no choice for me anymore.
