The 200,000+ km thread

Three months ago I bought a Ranger 2.5TD with a broken speedometer, motor untouched, does not use oil and returns 10km/l so motor still seems fine..

So that one mechanic was right about that Hyundai.
When we brought our accent, the mechanic said of all the Hyundai around,
This is the most reliable! Guess he was right.

But I think no ECU or computers is the real reason......
 
Renault Megane dci 2004 280,000 km replaced Turbo twice still going strong.

Yeah I think you're right, all mechanical, means there's usually a cheap easy fix, and can be fixed on the side of the road should something happen.

But this car is tough, a while back my radiator fan got stuck (dirt inside the by the coil) and for a few months the car would over heat while in traffic with me noticing just before the needle reached max heat must of the time. No damage resulted from that. Other cars had gasket would be toast.

I also first assumed the entire engine but on a 2007 Bimmer it could be a bit pricey methinks. Although I have never come across VVT motors, I thought the mechanisms were all driven by oil pressure?

Semantics indeed

I meant valvetronic motor (servo) and not the vvt solenoid.

Apologies for confusion caused. Limited knowledge.

^^ my manager has one, also with the 1.6 G4FC engine that my i30 has. It feels a hell of a lot nippier than mine due to the lighter chassis.

May yours also make 200k km trouble-free ;)
