The 200,000+ km thread

My Corsa is still sitting around 170k

damn car is 2 decades old now, it'll start shouting at me shortly

Unfortunately I don't drive it so much anymore, mostly on Sundays when I go to to the illegal area to do illegal things, less suspicious car than the bakkie or a white bloke on a motorcycle.
Mine made 270k before "upgrading"

Engine serviced on time every 8-10 000km
Fuel injection setup done @301 000km

Engine has been rebuild once @311 000km
*still using the same Pistons, rods, crankshaft, block, head, gearbox from factory and alternator- just replaced a couple of regulators
*1x new starter, waterpump, oil pump
*2x thermostat
*3x coils
*3x distributor
*4 ignition switch

If you have 4x Black Label quarts can it still do some limiter bashing?

It shows what a lot of TLC and regular maintenance can achieve. Well done.

Lets atleast get this started.

motor, gearbox, clutch all original untouched.
Still on original brake discs.

Mods:
I drove stock for 5 1/2 years, then went with a stage 1 tune in March 2014.
June 2015 I threw on some Eibach lowering springs.
Feb 2017 I jumped to stage 2, with a DP, CAI. This was a big change in performance. Really happy with it. Stage 1 was actually just a waste of time.
And that's it..... there are a million things I have wanted to do, but I guess life got in the way, and money was spent elsewhere.

Problems fixed:
Early on, VW replaced a component that was causing the revs to remain high (or caused them to drop). Dont remember.
replaced HPFP
replaced LPFP
replaced coil pack
replaced pcv valve
replaced roof liner
replaced a relay that was giving weird issues. Took ages to diagnose and google but I found it eventually.
a month ago I fixed a rear door that would not open for almost 10 years. never really needed the door so ignored it lol.

Problems not fixed:
cosmetic
cracks in leather on centre console
side bolster driver side has worn right through
gear lever sock has a patch worn through
small cubby by steering wheel has broken out

brake discs needed
brake pads needed
shocks needed (Thinking of coilovers)
might do cv joints
might replace control arm bushes
oil leak from turbo. Not sure what to do about this
- my plan is to tackle the above mechanical parts all at once this December. If I find the cash...

It’s encouraging to hear that the engine has been reliable. Especially coming from a 15 year old non-Asian car with a direct injection, turbocharged and cambelt-driven engine.

I had grown to fear owning a car like yours because they always have the UNRELIABLE / MONEY PIT stigma attached to them. Your experience shows that vehicles of this kind can be reliable if you follow the maintenance schedule.

Thanks for sharing. I hope you get many more years out of her.

Shout out to @6spdmanual for getting his Mk7 to 150 000km as well.

I am on the other end of the spectrum, having recently rebuilt the engine in a car with the same EA113 engine as the Mk5 GTi.

My bank manager looooves me
