The 200,000+ km thread

Lets atleast get this started.

motor, gearbox, clutch all original untouched.
Still on original brake discs.

Mods:
I drove stock for 5 1/2 years, then went with a stage 1 tune in March 2014.
June 2015 I threw on some Eibach lowering springs.
Feb 2017 I jumped to stage 2, with a DP, CAI. This was a big change in performance. Really happy with it. Stage 1 was actually just a waste of time.
And that's it..... there are a million things I have wanted to do, but I guess life got in the way, and money was spent elsewhere.

Problems fixed:
Early on, VW replaced a component that was causing the revs to remain high (or caused them to drop). Dont remember.
replaced HPFP
replaced LPFP
replaced coil pack
replaced pcv valve
replaced roof liner
replaced a relay that was giving weird issues. Took ages to diagnose and google but I found it eventually.
a month ago I fixed a rear door that would not open for almost 10 years. never really needed the door so ignored it lol.

Problems not fixed:
cosmetic
cracks in leather on centre console
side bolster driver side has worn right through
gear lever sock has a patch worn through
small cubby by steering wheel has broken out

brake discs needed
brake pads needed
shocks needed (Thinking of coilovers)
might do cv joints
might replace control arm bushes
oil leak from turbo. Not sure what to do about this
- my plan is to tackle the above mechanical parts all at once this December. If I find the cash...
What? A VW without a waterpump replacement? Amazing...

My heart is broken, backlight is broken but last time I checked my Corsa was around 280 000km, for the first the time the engine finally had to be opened because of a snapped cambelt, I was really hoping to make 300k and beyond.

I am slightly annoyed with myself as I admittedly have been skimping on maintenance these days, was doing short trips and always thought I will make time for the cambelt as I wanted to change everything including the water pump and thermostat, unfortunately for me it caught me unawares.

But the beast is fixed and back on the road again, hopefully for many more kilometres.

Amazing how high these cars have gone! You guys must look after them very well.

My dad used to have some high-mileage ones, my cars rarely get over 60 000KM before i sell them. Dunno, i'm just impatient for something new lol.

My dad had a Ford Sapphire that he sold with 402 000KM on it. Other than services the engine never had an overhaul. However a lot of other stuff broke - heater, AC compressor twice, it had the most unreliable way of controlling idling ever - not sure if it was an ECU or what. But it needed tweaking often. The engine itself however just went on and on and on...

About to hit 250 000 on my 2014 Audi A4 TDI, no major issues whatsoever, did the cambelt service at 240 000, other than that just every 15 000 km service and replacing brakes and tyres.

Zero complaints and it has been to every province in South Africa.
CVT Multitronic?

You're not the first Audi i've heard do that, which is weird because a few years many people said avoid TDI's they'll blow the turbo by 30k. Guess it was more urban legend maybe based on some faulty ones.

Its like Renault, a lot of people complain how unreliable there are and yet between my sister and I through the years we've had 5 and she's kept hers the longest - and neither of us ever had a problem they just ran fine every day.

Yeah, that is most likely the case, everyone jumping on the bandwagon because of a few bad apples.

I think it also comes down to lack of maintenance and servicing as well. When I changed my CVT oil at 225k km it was like tar. Bearing in mind I had only owned the car for 3000km at that stage.

Oddly enough, it still shifted fine, but I needed to do an adaptation afterwards which was easy enough to perform with VCDS

I just dislike Renaults now because of kak dealerships and difficulty when you neee to get very specific parts that aren’t a problem VS other brands. Koreans have a similar problem for me but seems they’re getting better in this regard

Will look into doing this with the next service, it was done for me under (extended) warranty by Audi, I think at 150 000km.

What kind of fuel economy have you had with it, what size is the engine?

It’s up for the Cvt oil change then, I wouldn’t leave it longer than you have, ideally do it every 60-80k km to be on the safe side.
