The 2019 Weight Loss Thread - Workout Check-in Thread

Still no water at home. :cautious: Not gonna sweat it up.. so decided to braai instead! o_O

Cheers!

Well you know what... I said screwitt.. so what If I'm smelly. You know when your brain can give you a million reasons why not to do something... and the heart only needs to give 1.

So I went back to my old faithfull home routine I havent done in a while. I do the exercises in the below article but not quite like they do it. I do 45 seconds exercise 1, 15 seconds rest, 45 seconds burpees, 15 seconds rest, 45 seconds exercise 2, 15 seconds rest, 45 seconds burpees and so on.

Stupid HRM didn't record but I didn't even care. I just kept at it and it felt good

Cooldown dip in the pool afterwards was heaven.

Ya gotta love burpees

Yeah.. I tried doing the mountain climbers inbetween exercises but for some reason I always mess up my groin when doing too many of them.... so switched to burpees. man it kills me.. I love it!

I'm the opposite. Fine with mountain climbers but sometimes battle with my hips with burpees.

Saw a video recently of a guy doing a combination burpee/mountain climbers: Drop down, pushup, 5 mountain climbers, jump in, jump up was one rep. Looked good but haven't tried it yet. :-)

Oooooohh.

I reckon my groin will survive 5 mountain climbers per rep. Will give it a try, Tx!

Almost slept in. But. Dragged myself out of bed and did a 38 minute 5km!

Lekker!!! 90% of the work is just overcoming the brain's imulses to resist. Once you start it's like..... "Yeah man. I can do this" !!!

Mmmm... I get the urge for sleep in days often, but I too drag myself out of bed, 04:30am is early. Always feel better for it. Did a 20km cycle 55mins. Was back home before the family was even awake. There were quite a few others out running and cycling at that time too, although I go it alone I am never really alone. Screenshot_2019-02-21-10-17-01-215_com.garmin.android.apps.connectmobile.jpeg

Well done! I used to be a serious night owl until July last year then I watch a few videos on youtube about getting up early, from getting up around 630->4:45 I am now where I want to be. I have a head start against the world so its worth it!

As the Ben Franklin quote says "Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise."
I'm not too sure about the last 2 benefits but if I don't go early then I don't get another chance until tomorrow (evenings are almost impossible to get a meaningful workout in) so certainly in my case it makes me healthy. And for most part it is definitely the most splendid time of the day. Used to be even nicer when I lived in Fish Hoek and cycled up Chapman's peak or over to Simonstown early morning. But Bellville over Jip de Jager drive with Hottentots Holland mountains in view is not bad either, I got to work with what I got.

The reality of my job is I have no control over the afternoon evening, I can however plan for the morning and now do so :)
