The Audi A6 Thread

New Audi A6 Allroad unveiled

Sporting distinctive styling and several adventure-focused enhancements, Audi has pulled back the curtain on the new A6 Allroad.

Audi has revealed the all-new A6 Allroad. The adventure-focused A6 measures 5 016 mm in length and, built on a wide body for the first time, 110 and 84 mm wider than the current-generation A6 Avant and previous A6 Allroad, respectively. Compared to the former and latter, the track has also been increased, by 74 and 55 mm, respectively. The box-fresh A6 Allroad offers 34 mm more ground clearance than the A6 Avant and adopts model-specific adaptive air suspension with 55 mm adjustment range, enhanced all-wheel steering, and chunkier tyres.

The A6 Allroad is available with the choice of two powertrain options: e-hybrid and V6 TDI. The e-hybrid setup pairs a 185 kW 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol internal combustion engine (ICE) with a 105 kW electric motor – the latter fed by a 20.7 kWh (net) battery. The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) produces combined power and torque outputs of 270 kW and 500 N.m, delivered to the road via the German marque’s quattro all-wheel-drive system. Audi says the e-hybrid offers an electric-only operating range of 95 km. Regenerative braking can be adjusted in multiple increments, while a target battery charge level can be selected via the MMI digital display.

Equipped with quattro all-wheel drive, the V6 TDI model’s 3.0-litre turbodiesel ICE churns out 220 kW and 580 N.m. The V6 oil-burner is supplemented by Audi’s MHEV plus technology, which comprises a belt alternator starter and powertrain generator, which delivers an additional 18 kW boost for short durations, and an electric compressor.

The A6 Allroad is Audi’s BEST CAR! Why does no one buy it? - carwow

The all-new Audi A6 Allroad is here! It’s the fifth iteration of the A6 Allroad, and Mat’s about to put this one through its paces to see if it has what it takes to stack up against its predecessors. What’s more, he’ll also see how the practicality compares to some of the latest Audi estates and SUVs available today.

But first up, let’s check out the design… Up front, the A6 Allroad sports a few design differences from the regular A6. It’s equipped with an all-new lower bumper, along with a unique and different grille design. There are also additional vents in the lower bumper to help airflow through to the wheels.

Along the side, there are widened wheel arches at the front and back, coupled with black cladding on the surrounds and on the sills - you’ll also find black satin roof bars on the top. At the back, once again there’s a new bumper, coupled with some 100% real exhaust tips!

On the inside, the design language mirrors any recent new Audi release. There’s a large swooping digital dial and infotainment screen, coupled with a passenger screen sitting across the remainder of the dash. There are soft-touch and Alcantara materials along the dash, although reach lower down and you’ll find some scratchy black plastics.

The A6 Allroad is fitted with comfortable, figure-hugging sports seats, and there’s a decent enough amount of storage in the cabin.

There are two engine choices available for the A6 Allroad. The car we have here is equipped with the 3-litre V6 turbo diesel, and this delivers 299hp and 580Nm to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch. You can also choose a 2-litre 4-cylinder plug-in hybrid, and although it comes with a higher power output of 367hp, we think the diesel is the better choice of the two.

So it sounds like a great car, right? Well, of course, it doesn’t come cheap. The new A6 Allroad starts from £69,700, but for the car we have here in this video, with lots of options added? You’re looking at north of £90,300!
